Since it appears that most of LSU nation wants Les gone, which coach (that they have a reasonable chance at hiring) would be the most successful there?

Here are some options to ponder, but add your own:

Jim Harbaugh
Will Muschamp
Kirby Smart
Jim McElwain
Gus Malzahn
Bo Pelini (yes I think he would leave Nebraska)
Dan Mullen
Jon Gruden
Bobby Petrino
Jimbo Fisher

Options added by others that I forgot:

Gary Patterson
Kyle Wittingham
Tuberville
Jack Del Rio

He was one of those, "You never know what you've got until it's gone" type of coaches. He was not beloved here until 2008 (the year after he left).

I'd take Muschamp, Harbaugh, or Smart. LSU will do best with a rugged, guy who wants to pound the rock and play D.

Pelini or Muschamp, both seem pretty intense, somebody needs to light a fire under that arse.

well since you put Gruden in there he is the obvious answer. but i don't think he'd come to LSU. i think Gary Patterson would be the best coach for LSU right now.

I think the LSU job at 4 million is one of the top 5 coaching jobs in America. You have loads of in state talent with no other in state team to compete for it, great fans and facilities, the best conference, and East Texas right next to you.

That is why I think Pelini would leave Nebraska. They are going to have a pretty rough Big Ten schedule and there is zero talent in the Plains.

Fisher might leave just to get out of the shadow of Bowden. Not sure if he would go after only one season though.

I think the potential search(9 wins or more and Miles is staying) will either go two ways:

1. A former assistant...ie. Pelini, Muschamp, Fisher, etc.

2. A guy they had on the short list in 2004, ie. Del Rio.
