I think that what makes this melt special is that:
1. It involves a hurricane, which would at least make you think that there would be some awareness regarding the imperfect science of predicting hurricanes, their impact, and the general chaos that comes with evacuations. Even inland. Sure it's disappointing, but it's just a part of living in weather areas.

2. I don't think that LSU would particularly want to play their home game in Tuscaloosa if the floods that happened in Baton Rouge happened in November. Granted, they've moved other games, but in this case, it's the cross division rival. It's a loaded game.

3. The degree to which many of the fans think their team will run the table and their team is in control of its own destiny after one game against Missouri is just astounding. Not saying it won't be the case in a few weeks... but WOW. Now?!

Also, the ole miss game years ago with the whole clock thing was a pretty good melt too.

And, Alabama fans have their own issues, so in no way is this a post meant to imply we are above a melt.
