that's what he meant...but its wrong.

unbeaten and undefeated mean the same thing

if you have 0 losses and 1 tie you were undefeated

You can tell who is young and a recent fan of college football with statements like this.

HEY KIDS - COLLEGE FOOTBALL HAD TIES BACK IN THE OLD DAYS. The last tie game was in 1995. I know that's fricking ancient for some of you - that are 15.

Sort of, but the category was created to define the distinct difference. There is a distinct difference.

Then you understand how the terms were defined in football jargon.

There was no "perfect seasons" talked about for the majority of the country, if you had no losses you were either undefeated or unbeaten if you had ties on your record.

First Unbeaten: 1896 (2-0-1)
First Perfect: 1917 (8-0)
First (and only) Winless: 1948 (0-9-1)
