If you don't think SC is serious about basketball then you aren't paying attention..

1. Building the Colonial Life Arena (which is better than most of the other arenas in the SEC, if we're being honest)

2. Hiring Frank Martin who's changing SC's entire philosophy from the Horn years. People don't realize that when Martin first got here he held open tryouts FOR STUDENTS to join the team. I know this because I was a student at the time...

3. Hiring Dawn Staley.. SC just won it's second SEC championship and 1st SEC tournament... enough said, her work speaks for itself.

4. Building a top notch resort style dorm for student athletes/upperclassmen right across the street from the Colonial Life Arena.. obvious recruiting tool.

5. Plans in the works for a state of the art basketball practice/coaches office facility in the works. Work set to begin some time after we finish with Williams Brice..

Last but not least.. our coaches are paid well.. Frank Martin is paid over $2 million (only Calipari, Donovan and Pearl are paid more) and Dawn Staley is bound to get a raise this year if she gets her team to the final four... (she already makes $850,000 a year and could be making over $1 million after a raise). Mitchell at UK and Blair at TAMU are the only women's coaches paid more than her currently.

If that's not commitment then I don't know what is.. Sure, LSU has basketball history but one can argue that SC is just as serious about basketball as LSU...

Yeah, Carolina fans show much more grace and patience than LSU fans, and I support them on that.

LSU fans think they're so far above Jones, who's the winningest coach in his first 3 seasons in LSU history

Contrary to popular belief this school used to be quite competitive in the basketball area

So-much-so that the ACC literally changed the rules of the entire conference in an effort to thwart what we were doing ... which immediately led to us leaving that bullshite of a hooer conference.

Exactly martins about one or two more yrs away from having a very competitive basketball team. Horn completely demolished basketball at this school

That's a painfully slow improvement, but Martin should get at least 1 more season.

2012-2013 = 4-14
2013-2014 = 5-13
2014-2015 = 6-12

7-11 next season?

This is true, yes, but there were at least six games that USC should have won this year but couldn't close out due to talent in the final minutes.

This year's USC team had at least six victories over NCAAT teams.

North Florida (curbstomped)
UGA (curbstomped, 2x)
Okie State (curbstomped)
Iowa State
Ole Miss

Add in a very narrow loss vs. Baylor, Arkie, and LSU,, and it's easy to see why so many of us think Frank has this team trending positively. Like Dorchester said, Frank was hosting open tryouts his first year here because he was simply trying to fill in the crater that Horn left.

Frank is building the program the right way. We have a top 20 recruiting class coming in, to go along with a solid foundation on blue collar guys. We will likely be a bubble team next year and solid NCAA team every year after that.
You need to worry about Ben Howland, his last 5 or 6 years were awful for UCLA standards, especially considering the amount of talent he had during that time.

Probably not ... he'll probably end-up at UNC unless they get nailed with sanctions soon.

IF he doesn't go to unc, he's coming to SC.

People on 247 started predicting where he was going in 2013, and the feeling, up until about 4 months ago, was that he's a unc lock. However, SC has been building a case and recruiting him hard since he's a hometown player.

Getting Woods and Dozier in back to back years would be huge for the program. I saw Woods play when he was a sophomore and I hadn't seen a sophomore in SC dominate everybody on the court like that since BJ McKie.
