When is the last time you went into a season knowing your team had no shot at a CFB title?

Obviously Ole Miss, Arky, TexAM, Missouri, MSU, Kentucky, Vandy, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas experience this feeling every preseason. This thread isn’t for their fans.

Curious about the heavy hitters of the league though. For me, 2020 and 2021 I knew we were DOA. Orgeron being the reason.

Any input welcome.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt that way.

I’m more honest than that. Reality is my stomping ground.

You got me, I was Being dishonest.

However, in 2003 my brother who is an Alabama fan asked me what LSU was going to do. I said that we’d be pretty good but that national title is out of the question since Davey was gone.

Ever since I’ve been delusionally optimistic and will never stop being that way.

Lee Corso picked us in 02. He was a year off.

Last 118 years for Miss State. 5-7 would be a great achievement this year

You dumb baws worshipped Coach O after 2019, you'd have probably let him bang your wife. Don't try to rewrite history and act like you knew he'd fizzle out

I'll admit, I thought 2020 was going to be good. We had Chase and Marshall returning, with Brennan stepping in at QB (upperclassman with a strong arm). Defense was expected to be good, with an NFL secondary. It felt like a reload, not a rebuild

2017 ended up making the run, but we had no clue heading into '17 what would happen.

Eta

I thought we were going to be fine in 2020. And honestly, we might have been had Brennan not gotten hurt for the year. Not national title good, but not 500 bad.

It appeared that the offense was still running the same scheme and I remember re watching the Missouri game and dudes were wide arse open, he just double clutches a little and misses them.

I had no hope of us being any good in 2021

I am a hopeless optimist this time every year. Each August I'm thinking we'll go undefeated and unscored upon.

I think they could've been good if Covid doesn't happen and the lazy Pelini hire wasn't made.

I loved the Louisiana baw story. Rags to riches kind of stuff. But I never thought he was enough of a coach to consistently win. He just won the lottery with Burrow and the talent that surrounded him. Still counts.

Very inaccurate. Most LSU fans knew we were screwed when Aranda and Brady left .

I call bullshite on the 2020 one. LSU was like top5 preseason. No way you thought you’d suck
