When is the best time for Auburn for Malzahn to leave?

It's a foregone conclusion that he will eventually leave. Let's speculate (just for discussion sake)that if it's not this year then next year. Auburn will be in a serious rebuild mode next season and production wil drop off from this year anyway. Doesnt it make sense to start off a new QB with a new OC. Is it going to be a step back to put the new QB next year under Malzahn for 1 season then start him off with a new guy the next? With this in mind some may think it logical to rebuild once with a new OC. Any thoughts?

Frazier won't be starting under center until 2012 most likely. Trotter isn't exactly gonna be playing on Sundays.

His scheme will help us win games next year when we have some inexperienced and young talent playing a tougher schedule. It definitely helps keep some momentum going through the rebuilding year. With Malzahn, AU has the potential to win 8 or even 9 next year. Without him, we might lose 2-3 more games.
AU should be in good shape going into 2012, if by the grace of God, we can keep him for 2012, AU will be dangerous. If he leaves after that, I think the talent and depth will be built back up to a level where his departure will not be as big of a hit.

I'd like to believe Gus has a little higher level of integrity than Petrino.

So how many losses would you give to starting over with a new/similiar system under a new OC in 2012? Is back to back 8/9 win seasons okay or could you see a 6 win 2011 and a 10/11 win 2012 if AU gets a new OC next year? I know alot would depend on who is hired but just for discussion sake.

He should have left now. They lose 24 seniors, and possibly their two best players, more like probably. His name may be mud this time next year.

Once again. I'm not asking when the best time for MALZAHN is. I'm asking what year will be best for the Auburn program to start with a new OC.

didn't the defensive coordinator from the University of Texas just get the head coaching gig at one of the top programs in the country, after a 5-7 season??

I think having Gus for one more year will help Auburn out in the long run. A win against Oregon and a coaching staff returning intact for the 2011 season will be big selling points going in to NSD. If keeping Gus helps AU land Frazier and a few other top notch offensive skill payers the future should look bright.
