I'm cool with it. Bama woulda been in play for a NC two more times in the BCS era if the top 4 had been in effect....99 and 05.

You plan to bump a two year old thread if Alabama were to lose in a "playoff" game in 2014 or beyond?

I wish it started this year.

I love the "when it starts" comments in this thread. When Alabama goes on to win a handful of conference titles and 1-2 more national titles over the next five years, will it finally meet your high standards? Or will the criteria change again?
The OP posted in the present tense with the future 'when will it end ' premise. If he would have tried a future tense premise "If UA wins the BCS CG in next 2 or 3 years, did the dynasty start in 2008 or 2009?" there would probably have been better responses. In other words, the OP is based on an assumption, if you wanted a universally accepted assumption, there's other sites for this.

Claiming one when you were under a Bowl ban.
Considering the polls were only relevant for regular season games, yeah, I'd say finishing number 1 in the AP is pretty good.
But while we're on the subject, you realize that Alabama was awarded the AP national championship before a bowl loss in 1964, and was awarded the UPI national championship before a bowl loss in 1973, yet you still claim both...

I'm sure you give donations to keep this site running smoothly, don't you? I don't take information from here and put it on AE. Most of the new information you guys get comes from TheJones and KK, anyway, both of whom are on AE and one of whom is a moderator.
I come here to spar with idiots like you who don't know any better.

Very doubtful...

You really showed that big bad bammer.

Well, I should qualify...by fans that want to converse as opposed to HomerNation, whatever stripe they may be.

Bama isn't a dynasty as of yet, but I think they'll maintain this level of excellence until Saban leaves. Unfortunately, he's the best at his craft.

I absolutely love all the no conference championship crap! I guarantee you that no Bama fans give a rip!!! We won the freakin Nation Championship!!! National Championship >>> Conference Championship
Not only are you not realizing you were gifted another shot at a team who beat you at home. You didn't win your division nor did you win your conference. Had you not been given that mulligan, this thread would not even exist.

Guys, just to clarify... I am using the word dynasty in a sense that indicates an extremely impressive run in the most difficult conference on Earth. This was an error on my part because there are no longer dynasties... Like UCLA bball, Jordan's Bulls, or the Notre Dame teams of old. As I alluded in my OP... I'm talking about a USC, Miami type of run.

Well, with this I would think till Coach Saban retires. Afterward, who knows? Picking a HC, with rare exception, is like the lotto.

Some other programs may close the gap some, but Bama will remain near the top as long as Saban is healthy. He could go another 10 to 12 seasons if healthy and he maintains good Assistants.
If my team (Arkansas) wants to beat Bama, they need to improve tremendously! Same for others. I see these schools in the SEC as a threat in the long run: LSU, TN, FL, GA in the 1st tier, then Arkansas, Auburn, S. Carolina. The rest in the 3rd group.

Coker won an NC with Davis's club then went to pot. It's pretty hard to tell. Regarding Coach Saban's tenure till, say, 2016? I think a total of 3 or 4 conference championships and 3 or 4 #1's is reasonable. Maybe more, maybe less but since it's a prediction, I would put it around there.
