I think if all of these happen in his first year:

-He misses a bowl game
-Recruits start to flip at the end of the season
-Milroe regresses
-Loses to Auburn

It’s more likely that his first season is his most successful.

8-4, followed by no improvement in year 2.

The guy has shown he can
Win.

You obviously do not remember the years between Paul Bear Bryant and Nick Saban.

Do we really need Barners weighing in on how to handle a coach?

I do. They still made bowl games the vast majority of the time and weren't quite this stockpiled with talent for a coach's first year.

That would be nearly impossible. Half the games Alabama plays next season are against Weak Sisters of the Poor.

You really think we are giving him a 70-100 mil contract to fire him his first season?

The actual threshold isn’t tied to any exact win loss record or rivalry game. It would be more of a general sense that we can no longer compete with Georgia, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio St, Clemson, etc on the field or for the same players in recruiting. Same thing that got Malzahn eventually fired at AU.

Short of stallings. Bama fans forget those years.

If DeBoer has two bad seasons, I doubt he sees season 3. DeBoer's defensive hires will determine his success.
