Easy .

We cant all have the horribly low expectations of the cow college.

My prediction has been the Miss State game next year will be his first game as the acting head coach.

He doesn't really strike fear in anybody should he get the job. You never know with promoting from within with a guy with no previous experience. He may be the next Urban or Nick or he may be even worse than Ed.

Will Aranda make a good HC? We know he's a great DC, but he doesn't recruit and doesn't delegate much.

idk and I hate that our best case scenario is we do bad enough this year that O is fired and we promote a guy with zero HC experience.

I don't think that is the best case scenario. LSU can still pull a big-time name at HC if they fix their AD issues and pony up some money.

Before signing his huge extension, the rumor always was his dream was to be an NFL DC. Sure a lot of people assume he took LSU's big promotion with the caveat that he would be HCIW if Orgeron were to be fired but I highly doubt that. But you're right, there is no guarantee he would be a good HC. It's indisputable he's a great defensive mind but that doesn't always translate into being a good HC.

I think he has made it pretty clear he won't be leaving LSU in the next 3-5 years. Not with what he is getting paid

Well of course not absent getting bought out. I believe he's paid more than any assistant in college or the NFL.

Yep, love him as the DC but I don't get the love fest with him being named the HC. Coach O is a hell of a Defensive Line Coach and Recruiter, doesn't equal into good HC.

i don't see LSU doing another internal promotion. once the coach o experience is over i think the fans will want to start over from scratch.

LSU is a sleeping giant waiting for a legit head coach. If they aren't agressive with an established coach to hire, they will be a good team just based on talent.

They took a cheap way with Ed O and it's showing.

If LSU loses to A&M this year, it'll be on the way from the field to the locker room.

If LSU beats A&M this year, they'll carry O off on their shoulders.

Yeah, I love Aranda but we need a complete cultural overhaul.

If Aranda wants to stay and keep getting paid under a new offensive minded HC, great. If not, it’ll be worth it to start a new era even if it means losing a great DC that will probably want to try his hand at the NFL eventually anyway.

If LSU tanks this year or next, they won't have the money to cover all the contracts they'd have to buy out. They'd have to go with Aranda. They would owe a TON of money if they fire all the coaches in the next year or two.

In the words of another poster:

quote:

8.5 M to buyout Ed
2.0 M to buyout Joe
7.5 M to buyout Dave

That’s 18 M before they spend a cent hiring someone else. At a minimum their HC is going to make 5 M. Their AD a little more and a new DC at least 1 M.

Do they have 25 M for 2019? I’m thinking no.
