for the rant to consider his hire a good hire?

Not asking opinions of him currently, just wondering what it would take for him to accomplish for you to say "maybe he was a good hire after all".

Ash, I said this before. Coach O is going to provide a kickass defense. As far as offense goes, I stated on Tiger rant months ago that he has likely learned from mistakes in the past micro managing as a head coach.

LSU is in new territory now, Canada is the guy and it might be good and average at times as your team learns something new and different.

The future for Lsu now belongs in the hands of recruiting to fit his offense. Defense won't ever matter because you are going to always get those which even I could teach success.

I just wonder if (for the sake of argument here) that he won the NC this year or next. Would people consider HIM a good coach or would they all say "well he just hired good coordinators but he still sucks".

Basically I'm wondering if he can ever overcome his stint at Ole Miss in the eyes of the people.

A good coach surrounds himself with good coordinators and dictates to them how he wants the game played. It is not up to him to determine every facet of the game for his team. That is the point of coordinators, so if he were to go all the way, anyone who says he is a horrible coach with good coordinators is just being salty. It would still be a skin on his wall.

I mean that's literally what Chizik did. 5-19 at Iowa St, hires a pretty good OC, rides the OC to a Championship, loses OC and goes 3-9 and is fired.

Interesting question but my take is pretty simple. He is the head coach. As wins comes he gets the credit. He also gets the credit for losses. You know how fans are.

So, if Lsu wins, he is magic hiring assist coaches. If Lsu loses, he hired terrible assist coaches.

I don't think anyone affiliated with Lsu beit administration , fans, alum etc should put him on trial after his first year. Keep in mind the offense is going through an entirely different approach to the game and that does not happen over night.

It will be interesting.

Lmao, Saban is not going to coach forever and you may live to regret poking fun of yaw yaw yet.

It may be a little bit of both, but he wins a NC, I will consider it a good hire. The list of schools that have won a title with 3 straight coaches, has to be short.

As much as this guy is generally retarded, this guy gets it's today. He was a terrible play caller at ole miss but he could recruit. He turned Bobby Lane into a tight end and he was a Tebow style player before Tebow. He could have been great. At one point he tries a trick play where he did a "wild cat" with the tight end at an. Oh no. Florida calls time out. Get back on the field and he runs the same play. It's busted. Like how retarded do you have to be. He already got caught.
