Sounds like a bad deal for TCU.
Bama will say whatever about recruiting but leave out the parts about cash, cars, houses, jobs, house sitting, payments to high schools, building facilities for high schools, paying hs coaches, etc.
Worthless.

Dummy, they turn it down because they are future API men and thus are honorable and want to be part of the fambly

Saban will do what he always does . . . instruct them to hire Houston Nutt.

It's funny to hear SEC fans of other schools call out Bama recruiting. If you honestly think Bama is giving players cars what's the logical conclusion of Player X that chose your school over Bama?
Limited spots and Bama hasn't figured out how to sign 52,000 players a year like Tennessee. I'm sure they'll send Gary Patterson to Knoxville to find that out and report back to them.

In return, Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin and his father have been looking at the characteristics of the uptempo offense TCU installed for 2014 with great success (Yes, we still remember Nick Saban's comments about tempo and player safety).
Nick Saban is really Lane's father. That's the real story here.

While true I doubt TCU is aiming to land a top five class
Shouldn't that be the aspiration of all schools?

Sabans recruiting method is fine tuned regarding who he goes after. Kids have to fall in a certain window for a variety of physical attributes based on their position to even qualify unless they are on a different level. This cuts down on targets and allows a staff to focus hard on the guys they really want. He'll likely get a peak at how and why Saban determines his criteria for his scheme. It's the same system the patriots use in the draft, but if I'm not mistaken Nick is basically the godfather of it and Belichek got it from him.

Only Saban can get credit for something that everyone does. Not just that, but he created the idea.
I can't believe how often this gets posted on here. The idea that the key to Saban's success is he likes people who have good measurables and focuses on them is like saying that a baker makes great cakes because she only focuses on sugar that is sweet. Or a builder is successful because he only focuses on materials that are proper for house building. It explains nothing and is self-evident. It also isn't an advantage because everyone does it. The advantage is getting the best guys. That's what he does.

CNS has measureables that he uses. That's why they will sign a 3* on occasion

How does TCU recruit better?
1. Don't be a third rate private school in Ft. Worth.
So what does that make the Aggies since they routinely finish behind TCU?

Congrats on your 7 point victory.

I'm glad to hear it's Patterson coming to Tuscaloosa this off-season. Every year another coaching staff that Saban is buddies with, come in and exchange ideas and philosophies. I remember Whittingham, Peterson, and a few others doing the same.
But really, we've had always had a lot to sell on recruiting, particularly since Saban has been around. Now that he hired Kiffin, college football's Chinese finger trap, #1 classes are easy. Hopefully we'll get some good tips on how to stop spread teams.
