You know, Bama is 2/2 with me visiting Baton Rouge. 3/3 if you count when my mother went when she was pregnant with me. That might have been a questionable decision for my mom, but whatever, it was the eighties.

The Ohio State University in Columbus was an excellent away game experience
Also, have enjoyed going to USC (got to see the Dodgers), Washington (scenery, seafood), Arizona (golf)

Favorite away game experience really depends on what you value as making the trip the best. Is it the bar scene? Did your team win? Did you get lucky? Here are a few of my favorites over the past couple years:
Georgia, 2008--The "Blackout" game. Athens is IMO the best college town in America. The bar scene is just fantastic, and the Friday night before was almost as fun as Saturday. The game itself forever changed the path of Alabama football. Going into the "blackout," and emerging with a 31 point halftime lead was Alabama's coming out party in the Saban era. Being from Atlanta and being able to shut-up the arrogance that was spewed about the over-rated "holy trinity" of Stafford, Moreno, and Green was fantastic.
Ole Miss, 2011 The game was a blowout, but Oxford never ceases to amaze me. It is a great college town with unqiue stores, bars, and great looking girls. The Grove is a great tailgate scene and should be a 'must-visit' for any SEC fan in their lifetime.
Miss. State, 2011 This might shock a few folks, but this was actually a great road trip. The strides MSU/Starkville had made since my last visit in 2007 are tremendous. It was "Bulldog Bash" weekend, which is also a 'must-go' if you are playing as the visitor. Great concert series in Cotton District with a surprising amount of good looking women. The Junction is definitely below standards to the Quad in Tuscaloosa, Parade Grounds at LSU, Grove in Oxford, etc... but is still very formidable and a great place to be before the game.
LSU, 2012 I've never quite seen so many drunk girls in my life. Fun bar scene with ridiculously good drink specials, even on Friday night. The Parade Grounds is a great tailgating environment, and the myth that LSU fans are antagonistic and abusive is quite simply, false. 99% of them are hospitable folks, who don't mind a few friendly jabs, and sharing food. If this is their most "heated game," then the rest of y'all should be fine. The game was obviously an instant classic; overall A+ experience.
Honorable Mentions
Neutral Site Games--Between Clemson & Va. Tech in ATL, and Michigan in Dallas, these have become some of my favorite weekends of the entire season. If it was up to me, College Football would start with ALL major conference schools playing each other at a neutral site. It's a blast going to bigger cities, and experiencing a "bowl like" atmosphere from Day #1.
National Championship Games--Roll Tide.

Not really an away game but 2007 Bama/Florida St.
Could possibly be, the worst football game I've ever watched, and ever played on a major stage.

I hated Florida, but I only went once.

A loooooong time ago - November 1982, my Sophomore year at LSU. Our fraternity took a road trip to Birmingham and Legion Field.
LSU 20 Alabama 10.
LSU led 17-0 at halftime, at which time Bama had 0 first downs and 5 yards total offense. They didn't fare much better in the 2nd.
The Bear said "that was the worst beating we've had since the 60's." which I find strange since they lost a couple of bowl games really bad before that.
ATLabama thank for the props. FWIW we also went to Tuscaloosa (fall of '80). Even then it was a beautiful campus and this was also before Bryant Denny was redone.
