What time today does Harsin get the ax?

The boosters had probably wanted to do it against Missouri but were left disappointed when Auburn derped their way to a victory. Now that the Tigers blew a game they probably should have won, it's obvious now that Harsin is about to have the plug pulled on him.

The only question is, when does it happen and who is made interim head coach?

I started the thread on our board about how we’ve never fired a coach mid season. Bowden “resigned” and it was a bit different due to being 1-5 and him fricking Lowder’s daughter.

I expect us to keep Harsin unless things fly off the rails. If I had to place a bet, I’d bet he’s fired the Sunday after the Iron Bowl.

Though I wouldn’t be surprised if he resigned at some point.

Early signing period and transfer portals make it more likely teams make this move earlier, although I don’t see the rush to do it now. I guess it comes down to how big of a distraction he becomes.

IDK, with that early signing day in Dec now, teams are making moves sooner and sooner. If AU waits until then, it could be late to the coaching changes party. If Harsin is gone, rip the band-aid off, IMO.

AU could go the LSU route, announce Harsin isn't coming back now but let him coach the remainder of the reg season.

Are there any examples of teams firing a coach early and then hiring the new one in time for him to recruit for early signing day?

I would imagine early signing day makes it more likely you wait until after the season so that there’s less time for currently-committed kids to explore other options.

Just last year LSU and Florida hired a coach in November to salvage the early recruiting period

It’s tough with the early signing day now. Kelly was hired 11/30.
