Pretty sure southern played two Thursday night home games this year, and I was at one. A lot of people aren't gonna go to an 8 pm game on a Thursday night.

Zero credit for taking an 11-3 Ga Tech team and an 8-5 NC State team to the wire?

No I'm not saying they don't have a decent football team. I didn't mean to get into a discussion about on-field performance. Hell ULM takes good teams down from time to time.

What I'm saying is a team that averages 14,000 attendees for a home game shouldn't be in FBS.

Any other logic aside, a team that has won a national championship in the last 25 years has no business anywhere close to this list.

Bama done took care of this one.

I seem to remember a lack of overall funding being a significant problem at Colorado. I think their financial support probably doesn't equal the average in FBS. They lack funds to invest in facilities.

App st. beat Michigan while they were FCS. Not an indicator of if a program should move up.

In addition to beating Florida 2 years ago, GA Southern fared very well this season, won the Sunbelt, and should have been in a bowl game if it wasn't for shitty NCAA rules

He's talking about it in monetary terms but Southern does very well money wise in football. I will get you that link in just a second.

"South" Alabama made a bowl game in the second year they were eligible. They are a very new program that will be a solid sun belt team.

I don't understand the point of this thread?!?

The cost of operating a college football program has gotten prohibitive. That cost is passed on to the fans. We should have a say in in the structure.

I think only P5 schools should be FBS status. Even as a UK fan I get tired of watching games against schools who just want a large payout so their marginal programs can keep operating at a minimal level.

P5 schools should only play other P5 programs. When a lower-division school's program grows to the level of the Power 5 conferences, then they could be invited in.

Sorry the attendance numbers don't indicate a large or loyal fanbase. They averaged less attendance than Jacksonville St last year.

Show me where I said they have a large fan base? I said loyal. Ga Southern has fantastic fans and great tradition

NIU was in a BCS bowl a few years back.

And beat Alabama not too long ago.

Sorry, that was before 2008; doesn't count!

I think they all belong because there is a reason they were placed in the FBS

And after we beat FSU next year and Arky the following, that'll change. Our AD sucks a dick though. Hasn't done shite for marketing.

Yep, Ga Southern should absolutely be FBS. They are going to be very successful and won't be too long until they make a move to a Power 5 conference.
Maybe they can replace Miami in the ACC. Ga Southern's program has more support and arguably a more loyal fan base.

That is laughable
