This is why we can't be friends. You could have picked an OOC school (like OP says), but you just had to fire your cute little shot.

Who on tRant did the Ole Miss posters steal being passive-aggressive from? Sorry for being too new to know the habits of the fanbases completely.

A&M stole the 12th Man from Iowa (and then is pissed that the Seahawks tried to use it, haha.)

I don't ever expect this nonsense to stop, but... in American football the term "12th Man" as far as anybody knows was first used by a reporter describing an Iowa football game in 1910. Trouble is, it was never used again. A&M's 12th Man story with E. King Gill happened in 1922, and has been used continuously since that game. Nobody stole anything from Iowa, as they didn't claim it or ever use it.

The Seahawks thing I think A&M might have actually lost if it had gone to court because it isn't exactly a unique phrase, but IANAL. The Seahawks agreeing to license the term is all that matters - not for the pittance they pay but because they admit A&M owns it. There's now a precedent, and that should keep anybody else from watering down the trademarked phrase.

The titles Notre Dame claims are pretty legit.

They could actually claim another 1 or 2 if they wanted to.

It's just many of Notre Dames are super old which makes them much harder to vet as claims.
