Coming from Knoxville, that is super shocking... maybe you are just being biased.

As far as the University and campus area Athens has the edge, but as far as the cities in general outside the universities are concerned

Athens is a peice of shite

Athens is the quintessential college town. Not saying I'd want to live there, but is hard to beat on a fall Saturday.

Knoxville is a shite hole. Don't deny that.

Knoxville is also 3 times the size of Athens.

I've been to Knoxville many times (lived in Nashville for years, SO is from Knoxville), and it's not that cool.

That is simply a false statement. The strip needs renovations, but most of Knoxville is really nice.

Besides the Old City the nice spots downtown are few and far between, I'll give you that .But shite, All Athens has is that tiny arse downtown

Most of Knoxville is the burbs anyway, almost anywhere you go in the city your never more then 5-10 minutes away from the River or a Lake. You can see the mountains from your backyard, and theres a large influx of Un-intelligent women who are trying to smash solely on the fact you own a boat

Athens has a few Walmarts, a few tattoo parlors and a bunch of cows surrounding it

Yeah, there's like nothing to it. A boring small town in the middle of nowhere. I really expected more.

I need to hit up Columbia, MO and Starkville to complete my checklist. It's pretty sad I've never been to Starkville, but I've really just never wanted to go.

Athens has 2 Wal-Marts
Knoxville has 6

As far as cows are concerned, I'm pretty sure Grainger, Union, and Anderson counties are full of metropolises aren't they?

And why are you comparing the towns? Knoxville is not a college town, Athens is. Knoxville has an MSA of nearly a million people. You're comparing apples to oranges. As far as crime goes, Knoxville is by far worse.

And you prove my point when you say most of Knoxville are the "burbs." If your town has "burbs" you are not a college town.

Trust me, you're not the only one.

Knoxville= tons of stuff to do.
Athens= not very much to do.

I'm not planning to get too far away from the gameday scene if I go. The river activities look pretty cool and Neyland seems like a stadium worth attending.

I'm not the one who started nitpicking. I simply said Knoxville sucks, and there's nothing wrong with that. But comparing it to Athens is fricking stupid.
