Pracitce. For LSU i think it's pretty obvious that it will be the qb spot. Even though if history tells us, miles will be pretty tight lipped as to how the competition (if there even is one) is going.

WR should be interesting.

Keon Hatcher is definitely a starter, but then we got Cornelius, Reed, Morgan, Robinson, Edwards, Mitchell, and Holister who are all capable of contributing in their own ways. A ton of potential and it will be interesting to see who rises to the top in the Fall.

Any way Bert can come up with a scheme to let everyone get pt based on different attributes? Or does those bunch of wrs mirror each other?

They're all very different. They should see the field at different times based on field position and what we're doing on offense. Edwards is a 6'6 red zone threat. Hollister and Hatcher are bigger pure possession guys. Cornelius and to some extent, Morgan are shifty guys with great hands that are not big but are both physical enough to play outside. Robinson is a pure slot guy. Mitchell is a big guy but a freak athlete and will get the most gadget plays. Reed is 6'3 and pure speed.

Yes it will. It's a great position to be in when you have those two battling to start

The joker

To me, having that many different wideouts is all on the staff to get them in a position to make plays. With your head coach I'd feel very confident at them doing just that, he's one of the best in the league at giving the players a great chance at succeeding

The only true position battle we'll have is at the MLB spot where we have like 4 guys who are all neck-and-neck. But DT or LT are also positions where incoming talent could usurp the starters.

Cornelius and Robinson are 5'10" slot guys who can make plays when they get the ball in their hands. Cornelius is also just a great all around receiver with nice hands and ability to make tough catches. Robinson I believe has more quickness based on what I've read. Cornelius played last year; Robinson didn't.

6'0" Drew Morgan and 6'4" Cody Hollister are possession receivers (white guys lol). Run strong routes and are athletic enough, but won't dominate anyone.

Kendrick Edwards is our one true big target - 6'5". He played a little last year.

Damon Mitchell (6'2") came in as a ATH/QB and converted to WR a season or 2 ago. Great athleticism and has made a few spectacular plays in practice, but hasn't got much of an opportunity in actual game play yet.

Reed is a 6'3" JUCO transfer who is supposed to be a true blazer. Have to wait and see how he does against SEC competition.

multiple good battles going on for AU

RB- will Roc or Jovon start? How many carries can Peyton Barber and Kerryon get?

WR- Duke is the clear cut #1, but who will get reps behind him. Gus is expecting Melvin Ray and Ricardo Louis to both play in the NFL, Marcus Davis is a prototypical slot guy and made plays before, but theres tons of young talented guys behind them.

H-back/FB- Kam Pettway or Chandler Cox. Pettway plays like Eric Smith,Cox plays like Prosch.

DE/ Buck- Who plays which position. Can Cowart secure a starting spot opposite Lawson. Which talented youngin' comes off the bench behind them?

For Alabama its QB and safety.

Beyond that there are four 5 star guys battling for CB2 and CB3 spots

Fullback/hbacks are used all the time...lutzenkirchen and Eric smith in 2010... prosch in 2013. we missed that last year.

Malzahns running game has been its best when there's been strong blockers in the backfield.

It's technically the H-back position, but Jay Prosch played it like a traditional FB and he was a huge part of our running game in 2013.

Chandler Cox would play it like a traditional FB, mostly a blocker but can probably catch a few balls.
Kam Pettway would play it like an actual H-Back. More of an offensive threat who will get plenty of chances to catch the ball and run on short yardage.

So there wasn't as much fb dialed into the offense bc there was a lack in personnel or is it one of the deals where the coaches wished they woulda used more of last year but for whatever reason abandoned it?

Talking about last yr

I don't think Alabama has any less depth than LSU does quite honestly. I just don't think they have as good of a DB coach (so far)

We really don't have that many at all. Like maybe 4 total starters are gone. BUT I'm looking forward to seeing who emerges as our MLB even though I have a feeling it will be the true frosh Darrin Kirkland Jr. Even though he was injured while he was here as an EE, the coaches are very excited about what he could do. He also tested at UT (they were testing all the players learning styles) as having an eidetic/photographic memory which helps immensely since he missed the more physical reps. And being so young that's gotta help speed the learning curve at a complex position.

Honorable mentions:

Interested to see if Cortez McDowell can take a spot.

Todd Kelly Jr. needs to be on that field more but he may not get there until later in the season.

Who takes the other corner spot? Should be Justin Martin. And who takes the corner spots if Cam plays some nickel which we've been told he might and that he's practiced there. We got burnt in the slot too many times to not consider putting Cam there since OC's simply avoided him last year by eventually moving their best WR to slot.
