Not for long

The AU/UGA rivalry will pass them in 4 years...3 if we play twice this season.

You've played twice, your not rivals. I'd say you don't have one right now.

I miss the Telephone Trophy rivalry we had with Iowa State very very badly, because I mean, it was for a trophy. Of a telephone. That's frickin' epic.

"Ring, ring, ring, the Telephone Trophy is ringing...Hello? Oh, its for you, it says IOWA STATE SUCKS!!!!! YAARRR!!!!"

Cuz some of us have memories. I jerk off to ku losing and I admit that openly to the world, with no apologies.

You're overlooking the point of the entire post. This was about how rivalries were created, tipping points in these rivalries, memorable moments in these rivalries... as someone pointed out we're without a rival at the moment, and was inquiring about the rivalries in the SEC since we're new to this conference. Currently the game we play each season with the most hope in terms of becoming a rivalry is probably Georgia.

I'm over them in the sense I haven't missed the game the past few years, and the run through the SEC last year was thrilling. Living down in Austin, the A&M game is very meaningful to me personally and is more fun socially due to where I live than ku ever was.

But in a discussion of what rivalry games are like and should be like, and the sheer unadulterated passion and hatred I can feel toward pure scum on the other end of the field or court, ku is the only discussion I could ever have. And being as this thread was about rivalries, I have to go with Nick in saying we have one, ku, and that's all we'll ever had. I'm not into manufactured rivalries and when you've got one that's 150 years old and that ties directly to my bloodlines, I'll never need one. I don't care how good or bad ku's football program is in terms of us having a pathetic rival. I WANT them to suck. I WANT them to go 0-11 every year for eternity. Because they're our rival and I hate them.

This is funny coming from Auburn.

If for some reason the SEC division alignments changed and the Iron Bowl just flat out stopped happening, you guys would still be talking about past Iron Bowl games for all eternity.

And don't start in with the "well yes cuz that's a real rivalry" shite on me. I'm just telling you what my rivalry is and why I care about it. I'm telling you what outsiders think of my rivalry doesn't matter to me in the slightest, I will still want that rival to go 0-11 from now to the end of time. At least a part of you will understand that. Any other parts of you that don't, I don't care.

At a point in time in the not too distant future when the Big 12 jimmies become less rustled, kU will realize they need this game to remain a relevant football program because Charlie Weis is not going to make them relevant again. Their football program is nearly dead right now, and needs something to jumpstart it into the future, and a game at Arrowhead to begin the season will be better than playing an FCS opponent to open the season (really the same, but the prestige of playing a Big 12 opponent is better)

You don't have a rival. You chased the almighty dollar and ended the second longest rivaly for it.

Nah, I don't care much for Mizzou but we all know KU backed out just to be spiteful, same goes for Texas. If FSU, Clemson, and GT can all do it KU and Texas can too.

Should be intensity, but everything is going right.

80/20 split in your favor in a neutral atmosphere

This actually hurts. A rivalry should be sorta even.

Didn't you leave the conference? This is Kansas you are talking football trash about. They have had 1 good season ever.
