Discipline is doing the right thing and avoiding the wrong things even when you don't feel like it. A disciplined team is every player staying focused on their particular job, regardless of circumstances or emotions of the game or whatever outside noise and distraction.

Penalties, turnovers, and "blown" coverages/blocks tell you how disciplined a team is.

Most of these mistakes happen when a player steps outside of his responsibility or when a player loses concentration on the task at hand.

Overall, the SEC looks undisciplined this year. Bama's been one of the most disciplined teams in the SEC for the past several years (IMO), but even they seem to be less disciplined this year.

Depends:

Pre-snap penalties, holding, interference, inadvertent facemask - lack of player focus

Egregious personal fouls, dirty play - on coaches for letting inmates run the asylum

Not so much with the penalties, but I catch your drift. Usually it's a by-product of the HC.
