This one always got me. I remember watching and saying, are you kidding me? Some may not think it as bad as incomplete pass, but it involved my team so I think it is.

It's been shite since Sean McDonough left.

I always hear folks saying that Danielson "adds good insight," "makes good points," etc.
Maybe I'm just seeing him through my Verne-is-an-overpayed-toad-and-a-blubbering-fool glasses, but I just dont see it.
So I have a request: could some of you Danielson fans make an effort to call attention to him in the next game thread when you think he has said something that any regular TD/Rant fan could not have told you.

This week we have Musburger and Herbie and I would take the CBS crew over them any day of the week!
No you don't. They'll be in Columbus for the Ohio State vs Nebraska game. They always do the ABC broadcast. Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge (the best combo today) will do your game on ESPN.

I think what some people, like myself, appreciate about Danielson is that he will add a lot of very detailed insight about certain coverage packages/QB's read progressions etc which I simply don't hear many other color guys doing that often. Not saying they can't but, for whatever reason (thinking it's too dry for casual fans?), they usually don't.
His insight, of course, is very QB-centric but I really enjoy it. Some of the things are what a fan who's interested/studied enough to recognize coverage packages would see if they were at the game but not television. The next time you watch just pay attention to how many times he'll point out the precise coverage package and what read the QB makes or doesn't make. Or later in a game, what play call's made to take advantage etc. . .
That breaking the game down from a QB-read standpoint is Danielson at his best. I agree that sometimes he gets "stuck" on a subject and beats it to death but he's still my favorite color guy for his detailed attention.

It doesn't get much worse than Verne

Excellent point.
His last FU was commenting on the tackle NOT being a Horse Collar Foul because he brought down the runner by the jersey. Jeez

I couldn't personally care less if the color guy's an extra official giving me the correct guess to the call since I'm going to hear what the real officials rule anyway in a few seconds.
I'd much prefer the color guy to tell me about coverage schemes, blocking schemes and QB reads etc, which Danielson usually does an excellent job at compared to almost any other color guy. Those are the things that I'm not going to see unless I'm at the game, if even then.
That's the "in-depth" stuff the people who enjoy Danielson are talking about and not whether he can guess the right referee decision.

Vern is even worse for hoops

Danielson is one of the best, but the bar ain't that high... Verne is loooong past his prime

I mean seriously, how could you mistake that for an interception?

I like Verne and Gary. It's like having my uncle and high school football coach in the living room with me for the games.
Todd and Brad get my vote for the best broadcast team in CFB. Bottom line: Anything is better than Brent and Herby.

You remember th Ark/Fla game a couple of years ago. Terrible.

I pretty much hate broadcasters in general. They over dramatize unimportant aspects of the game or they try to make everything controversial. I guess that's their job, but.....i dunno...

Like a few others have mentioned, Gary is solid but Verne is terrible.
The commercials are indeed an issue, although I've noticed this with college football in general, not just with CBS.
