The same problem that the old Texas blue bloods all suffer from (A&M and UT).

The universities think that their oil money can buy all of their success. The fans and the programs are always extremely cocky about this.

But they don’t realize that throwing money at a problem can’t always fix it.

The culture of Austin, Texas is also extremely suspect. The town and university has turned into the little Bay Area.

Also, UT hasn’t been able to recruit the way Mack Brown was able to.

Cause y’all aren’t as good as y’all think y’all are. And that’s evident in your use of the word rut to explain yalls level.

For 25 million, make me Football czar and I will fix for you. (Lol)

Suggestions:

Form a tiered support group and stop this “my rich dick is bigger than yours bullshite” , 1 million a year, 5 million a year, 10 million a year, 25 million a year, 50 million dollar club, 100 million dollar club, etc. Make it ridiculous like that, some mfer wants to get into dick measuring contest point to the 100 million dollar club sign. Enough already You had Saban but he wisely put a simple test for you to see if your alum were under control and you failed miserably. Every coach in America knows this.

2) Fire Sark, he sucks. You think he is ok because all your previous coaches sucked more. You need to bring in someone that’s a hard arse, will not take any shite, and can tell billionaires to STFU, tall order. Saban, CBK, maybe CUM, can do it maybe the guy have as a consultant. (Patterson, definitely best coach in the building) You are going to have a 100 million dollar penalty clause or bigger. You probably should fire your AD and everyone in your dept too, just because.

3) Form a huge NIL group and pay every player worth a shite.

4) Buy some damn old school lunch pails and make players carry them everywhere. You need old school work ethic

You are welcome. should I tell you where to send the checks.

My honest opinion is a little bit of everything: you can’t be as bad as the longhorns have been for the last decade without having a multitude of problems, but the likely biggest issue was/is recruiting. And not that y’all aren’t getting high enough ranked classes.

As much as y’all used to call it sour grapes by Aggies, people did research it and I’ve seen proof that there were many times a recruit would get an offer from Austin or would commit, and would get a big bump in rankings. Happened a lot and basically I think y’all didn’t truly have as good of a roster as you thought for many years. The bias seems to have died off somewhat in recent years, but I remember seeing lots ranking shenanigans 5+ years ago.

I do think ranking inflation is an issue w/ Texas players. There also probably isn't enough OL/DL talent in the state to sustain multiple programs at a national championship level.

LSU just won a title 3 years ago, that’s not nearly a decade lol and have been in 4 title games over a 20 year span. That’s 1/5th of the championships over the span. I do think Texas can turn it around, glaring problem being, Sark, he isn’t even the best coach on his roster. Texas should look elsewhere, but do you seek a younger coach or one that’s established?

Texas hasn’t had an offensive player drafted in the first round in quite some time, or am I misinformed? Robinson will certainly go first come spring though.

Bad coaching hires.

Bad conference not suitable to attracting National Championship caliber talent.

A&M changing the recruiting landscape in the state.

Unfortunately, y’all had to come back to daddy, so you’ve partially addressed the second two, but oh well. Y’all will still suck.

I'm assuming you went to LSU, so I guess I'm going to have to spell it out for you here.

Guy said "this isn’t a rut and Texas has been shite for nearly 2 decades."

We were in the title game in January 2010. LSU won the title game in January 2020.

If Texas has been shite for nearly 2 decades, then it must follow that LSU has been shite for nearly a decade.

If not for VY, Texass doesn’t win a NC since the 60s. Scholarship limits came in and Texass hasn’t really done much with almost unlimited resource and facility advantages in 70s, 80s, 90s,2000s (except for VY blip) and 2010s. Resource and facility advantages Texas had for 60 years will never return.

Just how it is.

I think it's cultural, the same as A&M's issues. You could stereotype it as arrogant bitchasses at UT and delusional dipshits at A&M.
I think both schools also have meddling by alums. I feel that's why Bear Bryant took the players to Junction, Tx, to get away from the meddling alums.
Mack was able to unite the different factions of UT alums. I also feel he put it on cruise control after the 2005 championship and that led to his dismissal. My understanding from the internet is that Eltife (rich UT alum) hired Sark. Don't know how true that is but it's example of alum meddling.
I think if both schools get cultural issues corrected, they could dominate.
