Major melt. So Bama now controls the recruiting services along with the SEC offices and the refs.

Now? The built in excuse in like forever. Tut is Aubie, no way it is an LSU fan.

I'll never forget Malachi Dupre was a 5 star the whole time until about 2 hours after he committed to LSU. Immediately he was bumped down to a 4 star. I was like what the hell?

This is the true secret to Alabama's run. We control the recruiting services. Follow this plot because it is all true...

Alabama has won 4 NC last 7 years partly because they have the best players. BUT... they didn't really have the best players until the recruiting services, controlled by the REC, bumped up the ratings of the Alabama players. This immediately made them all better players then they were originally, which raised their starting level.

It isn't fair that Alabama's players suddenly get physically and mentally better before they even show up on campus and enter the program. Is it the magic of the jersey or Alabama helmet? What other football programs can compete with that?

It isn't fair, refs, OL holding, schedule, SECoffice, dodge chargers, gump, sister-loving, recruit-service-buying, player-paying, cheaters.

Heckman sold it to Shannon for pennies on the dollar. But it was really the banks and investors, not the least of which was Bernie Kosar, who forced the sale. Shannon turned around and eventually sold it to Tom Ritter who owns Yahoo and is a big Bama booster.

Yahoo is fixin'ta-go bk as well.

Heckman turned around and started Scout, (he had named it something else at first but eventually named it Scout, I just can't remember the original name), and once Scout built-up a bit he sold Scout to Fox Sports for big money and got the CEO job at MySpace ... which is also now pretty-much defunct.

Shannon, in the meantime, waited out his non-compete with Yahoo and then him and that drunk fricking Bobby Burton started 247 ... which they just sold to CBS Sports.

And the moral of the story is ...

Funny how all the bama fans here are mocking LSU fans for crying, yet, none are denying the apparent fact that 2 of the major recruiting services are owned/run by bama alums. ESPN has no real dawg in this hunt & he's the one speaking so emphatically about the role of subscriptions. But if it helps bama fans to understand, even their god, Saban himself, admits subscriptions play a role. Big whoop: if a school is in the top 5 or 6 in the country, it has a great class.

For the life of me I don't understand why some people get so wrapped up in being labeled the #1 recruiting class. Do NFL fans get this riled up when their draft is graded an A but someone else's is an A+?

If you're A&M and you're down at the bottom of the top 20 then THAT is something to be worried about, but if you're complaining about being #3 instead of #1 or bragging about having the #1 class like it's an actual championship then you've got problems IMO.

I don't really think we're doing that. I know some of yall are trying to discredit our #1 recruiting ranking, just like yall do our National Championships

Something like four of the last eight national champions had fielded at least two consensus #1 recruiting classes during the four years prior to them winning the national championship.

Or at least that is what they were saying on the radio and TV yesterday.

Not only are you wrong, but you are so mad about it. It's a win win win.

cheeky Fellow, as I said, "apparently". And I am only going by what ESPN's Luginbill was quoted as saying here & elsewhere yesterday as well.Saban is quoted here saying much the same thing, too. And you are the only bama fan here refuting it, so my point remains the same when I said it. But as for being so mad, not in the least. I way too old to get fired up over anything to do with recruiting, let alone anything to do with bama, period. I am simply responding to the OP's thread like everyone else here.

They said that Alabama alums own 247 and Rivals? Then they are wrong too.

Damn Tut :)
Nice summary. But next time be more thorough.
Your analysis was too brief and without any details or substance.

Great job. And no matter what anyone else says - truthful and factual also......

I don't understand the "Recruiting rankings aren't legit because Bama's always No. 1" while they've won four of the last seven national championships.

You can't argue that rankings aren't legit when the results prove they obviously are. Amazing that people get so worked up over something that allegedly "doesn't matter"
