Hell why do they even play the game. They should put statistics into a computer and let it calculate who should win every game. It would certainly save a lot of time.

2004 PI

It's no 5th down but this one was as bad a no-call as the ole miss facemask this year.

Overall I remember a lot of times Arkansas getting screwed against Auburn, Florida etc.

Was it 2010 Arkansas got screwed over on 2 fumble calls against Auburn?

Least Okir state won their conference

You assume all conferences are created equal. Winning the Big12 that year was like winning the ACC this year. Just because you win your wack conference doesn't mean you are one of the 2 best teams in the country. The BCS was designed to put the two best teams in the title game. To say Bama wasn't one of the 2 best teams in 2011 is ridiculous.

First who gives a shite if it was a friday night? Secondly, no athletes died. The women's bball coach and his assistant died along with the pilot and his wife. They were on their way to Arkansas on a recruiting trip. But hey! Don't let facts get in the way of your piss party about getting dominated on 1/9.

So that makes a blatantly dishonest call okay?

Not at all. It should have been called an INT. My point was simply that there is no certainty - in fact the odds were against - LSU winning.

quote:

To just say there is no way we score is asinine.

Not saying no way. Certainly could have happened as 10% of your drives that day were long enough to have covered the needed yardage to score a TD. I'm simply saying that based on the play of your O (which you know was not performing well that day) and the Bama D (which held you to less than 10 yards on 8 of your 11 drives), it was unlikely that the INT would have changed the final outcome.

Not SEC but this is clearly the worst call ever.

/Thread

Oklahoma clearly recovers the ball because it's not even in the pile the refs are digging through.

They signal Oregon ball but no Oregon player ever had it.

Edit: Oh yeah! forgot they reviewed it and upheld the call!

There is a thing called momentum that you're completely ignoring. An interception like that is a massive shift in momentum that an entire team can feed on.

We were without Charles Scott, but we had Ridley, we had Williams, and Holiday. Don't tell me we didn't have the horses.
We also just lost Jefferson. Lee was in and finished the game with a desperation INT as time expired. Give him 6 minutes to work with, a motivated team after a huge defensive TO, and a 4th quarter winning coach and anything can happen.

You're negating the mental aspect of the sport.

The 5th down "incident" was easily the worst in MU, if not college football history... what made it even worse is that 1)the MU coaching staff didn't even call a timeout to bring it to the officials attention and 2) the Colorado player still didn't reach the goal line even on the 5th down play...

on our home field none the less...

That's inexcusable.

THIS is my favorite. You've got one job. Stand under the crossbar and watch the ball.....it if goes over the crossbar and inside the upright, it's good.

Long time no see. Hope all is well. It's going to be fun dissecting your post and seeing your response.

quote:

Not ignoring it. Just stating my opinion that it wouldn't have been enough to overcome all of the other things I mentioned - like the Bama D being better than the LSU O. It's ok for LSU fans to just assume that they would have absolutely scored, but it's not ok for me to say that it would have been unlikely?

quote:

we had Ridley, we had Williams, and Holiday. Don't tell me we didn't have the horses

You had horses, but that doesn't mean they would have run. You had better horses in 2013 when you had Mett, OBJ, Hill, and Landry. You didn't do much with those horses either.

quote:

We also just lost Jefferson. Lee was in and finished the game

Lee for his career against Bama:
24 for 58 for 316 yards, 1TD and 7 INTs in 4 games. You really putting a lot of faith in that guy?

quote:

4th quarter winning coach

In his last 8 games against Bama (dating back to Lee's FR year) that "4th quarter winning coach" has only outscored Bama 3 times. He's been shutout in the 4th qtr 3 times. He's only scored 7 or more in the 4th qtr 3 times. He averages for the entire quarter a total of 67.63 yards of O.

quote:

You're negating the mental aspect of the sport.

I'm not. You're just assuming a team that finished that season unbeaten and won a national title would not have had the mental toughness to overcome a potential interception.

It was a big deal at the end of the season too because OU would've been 12-1 instead of 11-2 and in the mix to play in the BCSCG.

2009 Florida game obviously. The 2010 Auburn game as well. Those 2 games made me realize how crooked the SEC is, and how arkansas will never be on the receiving end. Except the last time we played troy and one of our RB's (can't remember which one) clearly fumbled but wasn't called

What is the worst call ever that went against your team?

If you have to ask a Mizzou fan this, then you know nothing about the history of college football.

This. Take a poll of fans from all over the country and I guarantee that Missouri will take the cake, perhaps having two calls in the top 10 worst ever.

One of the worst I've seen was against Tennessee last year. Clowney tackles their RB in the backfield, tosses him around, and the ball comes out. Fumble, right? Wrong... the ref's called it an incomplete pass because his arm was moving forward as he was tackled.

Players mess up.

Coaches mess up.

Officials are human and they mess up as well.

No officials call ever eliminated 150 plays where both teams could have executed better.

Imperfect officiating is part of an imperfect game played by imperfect players and coached by imperfect coaches.

Given the magnitude of the (non)call, it's definitely up there.
