6-6 with some luck maybe 7-5. \

They had their best player ever and only went 8-4. I do not see how any rational person can say they will be better.

So tired of reading this on this board.
That record had nothing to do w our best player ever; it's solely attributable to our nightmarish defense.
A very tired talking point already, and it's early January.

Well the defense should improve especially with one or two of the recruits coming in and we are going to see the actual offense not the Johnny show and Sumlin has a pretty good track record there. But I digress and return to rant logic and can state that the great LSU will just reload and everybody else will decline to the football depths. I mean after all #5for5 is a reality.

Do you see your defense getting better? Have you guys lost any decent to good player on defense and if so are they being replaced by talented kids?

This year it look like the aTm defense lacked a lot of depth and talent on the DL.

Our defense cannot get worse.
Sumlin is addressing the issue via recruiting.

Defensive players gone after the 2013 season:

NT Kirby Ennis: Torn ACL during Arkansas game. Isaiah Golden (true freshman) was the starter afterwards.

DT Jordan Points: Didn't play, processed

LB Steven Jenkins: Supposed to be a leader on the defense, but had to be placed in position by freshmen linebackers

LB Nate Askew: A WR playing linebacker

DB Tramaine Jacobs: Good solid college backup, but had to start at least 4 games due to lack of depth and injuries

DB Toney Hurd: Probably the only loss that truly hurts.

Here's a breakdown of the 2014 LSU team (my opinion only):

QB - this is concern number one....hopefully Cam can make Jennings a better QB between now and the season opener.
OL - the offensive line will be very good.
RB - the running back position will be deep and elite.
WR - this is a concern. Talent's there, the kids just need to prove it.
TE - same as WRs.

DL - major concern. The concern is quality depth at DT. We have talent but no big names like we are used to.
LB - little concern but they should be much improved.
CB - no concern.
Safety - no concern.

There are some good threads on the Aggie board that can answer these questions way better than I can. We have some guys who redshirted and a few incoming thus year that should help on defense. Is gonna be great? No but it should be better than serviceable. The offense should just click right along. Are we gonna score 40 almost every game again? Probally not but we will score. The big question is can the D improve enough to keep us in the game if we only score around 30 a game. Gonna be another fun year.

IIRC, Points and Marshall were roommates. Their place was raided and Marshall was arrested for intent to sell.

Why does every poster assume A&M's defense will be the same next year? They started a lot of young guys who will surely get better. I would assume A&M's offense will be worse, and their defense will be much better than the 2013 editions. I'm calling for an 8-4 or 9-3 season.

I think the defense willbe MUCH better. The offense will lose the Qb, RB, 2 OL and two top receivers by my count. More than half the offense so yes the offense will be down no matter who the QB was this year.
