I haven't heard anything new on if we are going four pods in two divisions or two divisions of 8 teams each.

Thoughts on purely geographical alignments (the way it should be, anything else is weak IMO). Dividing line is AL/MS state lines, that would give us:

New West:
Texas
A&M
OU
Ark
Mizzou
LSU
Ole Miss
MS. St.

New East:
Florida
UGA
So Car.
Tenn
Vandy
Kentucky
Alabama
Auburn

Or pods, which are their own damn argument and won't be nearly as balanced compared to the above.

As an LSU fan, any pod scenario that doesn't have LSU, Ark, Ole Miss and MS St. just simply doesn't make sense, unless they decide to do a group of death with LSU, Texas, TAM, OU.

The only thing I've heard was everybody to 24 teams.

There's also the deal about what the ACC will do about the GOR that impacts the SEC's #'s.

As to pods, I have my opinion of who UGA & Fl. should be paired with...but have already discussed that on here.

I really don't like that alignment.... East would be way more stacked. Please don't let this be the case.

Not to get into the debate, but I can't understand how SOME form of divisions/groups/pods wouldn't help deciding the sorting of teams.

Geographical is what it is, each side has a big four, more or less:

WEST: OU, Texas, LSU, Texas A&M
EAST: Bama, UGA, Florida, Tenn

Could argue that historically, the West has more overall competitive bottom four teams:

West: Ole Miss, Ark, MS ST, Mizzou
East: Auburn, Kentucky, So Car, Vandy

What I'm saying is that if you do not split it down the middle, then it looks like someone is crying wolf and favors/concessions are being made.

I have yet to read someone explain how the teams for the SECCG will be chosen. Will there be SEC Semifinal Games or some shite?

Two closest schools in the SEC would be in different divisions. I’m cool with it because I am tired of having one game a year I know we have no chance in

I think you have to keep all schools in the same state in the same division/pod as a primary rule.

The dividing line between MS/AL is just so damn clean that if they don't use it, it will look foolish.

There's no way you can go without division and/or pods.
How would scheduling ever work?

Pod A
Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Auburn

Pod B
Kentucky
Tennessee
Vandy
Alabama

Pod C
LSU
UTEP
Texas
Oklahoma

Pod D
Mizzou
Arkansas
Mississippi State
Ole Miss

Each team has a permanent cross-over in each pod to keep all rivalries intact.

Thoughts on scheduling:

Sample LSU if we go pure geographic east/west:

7 other western division schools every year...

1 Texas
2 A&M
3 OU
4 Ark
5 Mizzou
6 Ole Miss
7 MS. St.

8 East 1 (rotating)
9 East 2 (rotating)

10 East 3 or non conf? (or perm East?)

11 Non conf
12 Non conf

Is it the off-season?

3-6 (9 games)
Everyone will have three permanent games... Example

Alabama vs. MSU, UT, Auburn
Auburn vs. Florida, Georgia, Alabama
Georgia vs. UT, Auburn, Florida
Florida vs. LSU, Auburn, Georgia
UT vs. Alabama, UGA and???
MSU vs. Bama, Ole Miss and Kentucky...

That leaves 12 teams, play 6 home and home, then the other 6 home and home. That way we play every SEC school 50% of the time.

East is not stacked.

East
UGA and Bama
Then you have UT, Auburn and Florida
Then Kentucky, USC
and Vandy

West
LSU, Texas, Okie would be the hierarchy
Arky, State, A&M, OM would next
Missouri bringing up the rear.

Basically that is pretty balanced historically.

East top five are a bit stronger but the West 4-7 is pretty solid even if the top three are a smidgen below to East top 2.

Hince the issue with Mizz.. But the SEC couldn't split Ala./Aub..
So........

They're saying top 2.

BUT, the issue is sorting same-record teams with lack of common opponents.

There’s not going to be divisions or pods. Each team will either have one or three permanent opponents. That’s hinges on whether the conference stays at eight games or moves to nine. If they stay at eight, which seems unlikely, it will be one permanent opponent. If they move to nine, then it’ll be three permanent opponents.

Hince why Ala./Aub., Tn./Vandy, & Miss./MSU could NEVER be broken.

Which caused the "fun" when Mizz. joined.

Ala. & Aub. can NOT be in separate pods.

(Also, Ga. & Fl. actually touch Al., so those 4 make better sense geographically.)

These are rational. They balance the power schools and keep regional opponents

This is just diarrhea. Apply some common sense and you see:

Pod C: Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri

Pod D: LSU, A&M, MSU, OM
