Ogeechee River starts north of I 20 between Athens and August, Ga and runs completely unfettered, including ALL tributaries in the drainage , un-damned making the Ogeechee and its drainage arguably the largest free flowing drainage left on earth AND the most pristine river system left because it has been left exactly like it had always been. It is certainly one of very few in the US left in its natural state.

Without a doubt, it's the Chattahoochee. Great whitewater rafting in Columbus.... longest urban whitewater rafting course in the Americas.

Tallahatchie River

Tennessee River
This is the obvious answer.
It is so great that Georgia has fought for decades to get just a little piece of it. They literally want to the state borders changed to get some of it.
Tennessee and Alabama both have told them to piss up a rope. They are not getting a drop.

There’s the Mighty Mississippi River and everything else is a tributary.
It isn’t so mighty until the Missouri River confluence.
The Mississippi is misnamed and should be called the Missouri River.

I’m sitting 200 yards or so up the bank from the Coosa, it is not getting my vote.

The Jourdan River deserves an honorable mention.

Chattahoochee. Florida and Georgia have wars over it"s illustrious banks.

The Chattanooga is not the Appalachicola. The Flint is 70 miles away.

Maybe I should have said no major dams. The 280 for Bham drinking water sure. Not sure the other one at Caldwell mIll still exists.
I’ve always stayed south of Centreville.
It’s still 154 miles of free flowing river out of a total of like 194. I’ll take that. All I know is that I can launch a kayak in Perry County and not see another soul on this entire stretch.

That river will be obsolete in 10 years.

The BWW dam is a decent size dam as it's at least 20 feet tall. The Caldwell Mill dam is still there (I see it numerous times each week)but it's only a few feet tall. I'm surprised that it hasn't been removed. I know the Marvel Slab dam below Helena was removed quite some time ago.
