Difference is, if the dawg or Mike tries to bite a Bama player, he'd be shot sedated or dead immediately. He does it to Auburn and he gets on the cover of SI. Because frick Auburn

PETA are definitely assholes but maybe there's something not cool about keeping a live Bengal tiger in a cage in East-Central Louisiana.

Yu can't be serious, that Tiger lives better than most of the people on this board.

If you think that just because he has a nice cage and gets fresh meat tossed at him it constitutes a great life for a wild animal, then I don't know what to tell you. Cause I'm pretty sure Bengal tigers in the wild live pretty decently on their own.

If they didn't have to worry about poachers and limited habitat, sure.

As it is, even in the wild they sleep 18 to 20 hours a day.

Just like most any other cat does.

Maybe Mike the tiger can see the future and has come to terms with the fact that LSU isn't gonna get to the ship.

So the answer is to lock them in cages?

I like Mike the Tiger, he's a very cool mascot. I don't think they should bother him at all where he's at. He's treated like a king and I believe he's very happy there. I realize he was captive-bred and not taken from the wild. So overall I have no problem with what's going on there.

But you can't tell me there aren't some animals that should be left alone in the wild and not held captive. I would argue that big cats like this fall into that category. Should Alabama have Eddie the Elephant locked up somewhere in the Biology building?

And, again, people like those in PETA are assholes and go way too far.

you mean keep their species alive in captivity as it goes the way of the Dodo in nature?

Since he was born in captivity and has never been in the wild, it is unlikely he would survive in the wild. Moreover, he is a hybrid between two subspecies of tigers that would never occur in the wild and thus he would never be released into the wild in any event.

Fair enough. All good points above me.

Carry on with your tiger.
