I hear a lot about it. I don't follow basketball enough to really care on a continuous basis, but for the sake of learning something new, anyone care to explain?

It seems interesting.

Auburn wouldn't get it. Too complicated.

Alright so it's just another league that the kids can play in besides they school team. There are tournaments all over the country, and a lot of college scouts go to watch the tournament games.

Thank you for a valid response!

Why have I never heard of these tournaments before? I live in Atlanta by the way.

Why doesn't high school football do this...like after Spring Practice each year? It seems like a great way to get back in condition. Maybe just limit the contact to avoid injuries.

If you haven't heard of it you don't follow basketball. The Georgia Stars are a well known AAU team.

Same. Coached 16U and 17U up and down the east coast. We did mostly Showcase events unless we were looking for filler tournaments on off weekends. April and July were crazy.

Seemed like a great time to bring up a question considering this board had a couple of posts about basketball.

It was a casual question waiting for a casual response.

Nothing more.

Don't you need to go back to fricking your sister or something?

You obviously haven't contributed in any way to this thread.

Run along.

Depends where he coached. We played mostly east coast teams but we did play teams from Texas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Oklahoma. Tons of North Carolina teams and teams from further north. When I watch the NCAA tournament I see lots of kids I coached against.

Sounds sketchy and a bit corrupt honestly.

Do you get recruited or something? Who decides who is on the "better/most watched" teams.

There is certainly a dark side to it. On the other hand it puts top talent in the same gyms during the April and July open season when college coaches can come watch players. It's worth it if you have a kid that's a diamond in the rough.
