Several sticks of dynamite.
And a coach who doesn't give a shite--in a very good & professional way.
And intrigue.
And students who care.
And a gameday atmosphere that doesn't feel like whitey, trying too hard.
And a winning streak.
And support from our Former Students.
And players who connect w the student body.
And whimsy.
And a gimmick (lame, I know, but it brings in the clueless).
And attitude.
And a miracle.

That is of the teams I listed. Also Florida is playing in the SEC now. Which really is bad.
Louisville
Wisconsin
Michigan State
Arizona
KU
Wichita
Those off top of my head are better than UF

Talent. Depth would help too.

Wisconsin is not better than Florida imo.

No Syracuse or Shocker love?

I know and they beat them in the O Dome, but I think KU has gotten better since then and Florida has stayed the same. I am not saying UF is trash. I am saying that there is not 1 team that is elite in the SEC and there are 5 teams that are elite.
I put Florida with Villanova, Iowa, Kentucky, San Diego range. All good but not head and shoulders above everyone else.

I don't think they're noticeably better. Probably a pick em right now. I wouldn't be surprised if UF is a noticeably better team by tournament time.

If you don't think Florida is not a FF caliber team then ok I guess.
It's not a coincidence that once UF got healthy they won 10 straight (still active). Once Chris Walker is finally cleared by the NCAA we'll be even better.

Wait so UF beat KU but KU's a top level team now since they've improved since that game.
But Wisconsin beat UF at home by single digits and UF had 3 players suspended but Wiscy's still better than UF because...? Has UF not improved since November? At least UF lost to ranked teams.
FWIW, I don't think UF is top level yet. But Wisconsin isn't either.

UF has a very good team. And I do think the SEC is a bit better this year than last.
LSU just needs a few more quality players especially guards. I think Johnny Jones will get us to where we (LSU) are competitive nationally. But as many SEC teams as can need to really improve which would help all of us.

I would put Syracuse and Arizona in their own category but just barely. They still haven't proven dominant against good competition. UF is just below them with a bunch of other teams including Michigan State since they just lost their top rebounder for a month.
Wisconsin? I would put them in the same category as Florida even though they are in a funk right now. But they need to stop the losing streak at 3.

Of course Florida is an elite team. Thinking otherwise is silly.

A new, less senile coach who doesn't make really stupid subs. His recruiting is okay, but it comes in spurts. Two years ago we had nothing. That was mostly due to losing our 6 best players after 1 season, so the next season could be forgiven due to a lack of experience. We've also suffered an inexplicable rash of players leaving. All in all, as well as he has suffered the storm of those losses pretty well, Stallings issues during the Jenkins, Taylor, Ezeli, etc years showed he is losing his touch.

4 good starting pitchers. Players that can hit. And a good bullpen.

A coach that is an excellent recruiter and an above average coach. That's it. We have money to pay whatever, our campus is excellent, our fanbase is hungry for a winner and has proven that it will support a winning team, and our facilities aren't elite by any means but our practice building is very nice and relatively new and Stegeman has recently had renovations as well.
The amount of talent within 90 miles of Athens is sick. And honestly we've NEVER been great at recruiting. Even when we were legitimately badass under Harrick, it's because he was an elite coach with above average talent. With Fox, he's an above average coach with woeful recruiting. Like really really bad considering our location. The reason is because he refuses to play the AAU game (damn UGA coaches, being all moral and stuff again), but still.
If UGA got a coach that recruit the elite Atlanta talent, he would only have to be a fairly good coach for us to make the sweet 16 every year. I mean hell, we're 4-1 in the SEC so far with our roster. Have you seen our roster!?

An AD willing to overpay our next coach Sumlin-style so we can hire better than we deserve.

At the very top level of college basketball? Guys that are good enough to go in the first round of the draft.
At the top level of the SEC? We need a shooter and another big man.
