Perhaps if we lived in a state with roughly twice the population of Mississippi and didn't have two other D1 schools to compete with for talent, things might be different.

Your crying about competing with Southern Miss and Miss St? that right there should tell every Ole Miss Sunshine pumper how great you really are

You know Louisiana has five D-1 programs, right? (Or did have, until D-1 became the Bowl Subdivision.) Plus, LSU's little in-state brothers have hardware. SEC hardware at that.

Losing to a Big 12 team is worth 5

Well... he was recruiting for LSU up until mid the 2nd week of January. Hard to "unsell" something.
Also, our DC who was doing a lot of the recruiting was fired and we were without a DC until Chief so some recruits were put off by that.
Despite Chief promoting LSU to high school kids, helping host them, etc... we still ended up with an excellent recruiting class.
Not sure how idiotic it is to say Chief goes 1-7 on signing day. Guy havd 5-6 weeks to start a new job, deal with a buyout of his LSU contract, and recruit kids that other schools had been recruiting for a year or more. Chief going to be just fine and none of us are worried it. Like I said, we have an excellent class. Looking forward to seeing what we do next year when he has a full year of recruiting.

There is no buyout. He coached a game for them on the last day of the year and resigned a week later. There is no buyout, except for in LSU fans imaginations.

Just pointing out that they have more SEC titles than Miss St. If you count the old Southern Conference, which all SEC founding members played in, they have more conference titles than Ole and Miss St combined.

Ole miss last national championship= 50 years ago.
A&M last national championship= 70 years ago.
Both are historically mid-tier at best.
