I think between that and Long has to think about his other employees in the AD office. Can he really allow Petrino to do that because he wins as the football coach? Would he allow the same from the baseball, basketball, track, etc. coaches? What about the women Petrino has to interactw ith in the workplace after this? What are the odds a sexual harrasment lawsuit (warranted or not) crops up because a woman feels suspicious of Petrino and thinks he made an advance on her? There is a lot more to this than Petrino is a great coach (he is). If this were the NFL, I don;t think it's an issue. But you're in charge of 18 year olds and are the face of a university and share a workplace with multiple other athletic professionals who are supposed to adhere to the same rules as you

Very well said. I think he's handled this as well as anyone could so far, but now he's got decisions to make and they're tough ones. He has to think of the whole department - and give no hint of favoritism so that the department has credibility going forward.

Even more likely from someone that interviewed with him and didn't get a job.

The Arkansas AD did a good job talking and not saying anything, the reason why the presser was delayed was he was smart enough to be cloistered with the schools legal team

If we could get as good a coach or better...I would be all for it. I like Petrino but the negative publicity with him is getting a little old. I'm fine with whatever Jeff Long et al. decide.

Sadly, The Penn State thing may have changed the game and Long will be forced to cut ties with Petrino thanks to a nationwide media feeding frenzy.

I just don't see any way you can fix this. Fans like to think it can just be swept under the rug and go back to normal, but an AD office is like any other workplace. Haven't even thought about the current players under Petrino. Not sure the player-coach relationship at Arkansas, but Richt is a father figure to the guys at UGA (insert discipline-related joke here; ha ha; :beatdeadhorse: ) and Kathryn is the damn water girl/players love her. How would you look at your dad or boss if you knew he was cheating on his wife/your mom with a chick 20 years younger than him?

I don't see how he can walk into a recruits house and have them believe anything as this point.

The whole Falcons thing was bad but there was at least a little bit you could see why he left (Vick etc.

But this, there is nothing like that. His rep was bad but rebuilding and now it's gone to complete shite.

I do still think there would be some QBs and WRs that could overlook that because of the way his offense caters to them but i agree...its going to be hard

It may not be as bad as you think in so far as recruiting, just today a kid with offers from Bama, Ohio State, Florida State,Texas etc. verbaled to Penn State

Parents can play a huge role in some cases though. Especially with single parents of players because their spouse cheated on them, which happens all the time. No chance with those guys.

But Penn State made amends. Penn St took the necessary steps to save what face they could. If Arkansas doesn't do something to save face here, they'll pay for it in other ways. shite situation for the fans, but it is what it is. Either you cause inner turmoil by keeping hi, for the sake of a good season, or you rip the bandaid off and let what happens happen

I think Long has done a great job. I also think it's great that he interacts with fans on twitter-not many are willing to take the time for things like that.

I really liked him in the presser. Seemed genuine and sincere about doing what was right. On another note, did anyone notice that he looks and sounds a lot like greg daniels from the office and king of the hill? He also used the word "review" like tebow uses excited.
