For someone that follows our team as closely as you do, you would think that you would know that defense is not LSU's problem.

LSU is #3 in Total Defense and #8 in scoring Defense in the nation this year. Defense and the loss of talent from last year is, obviously and clearly, not the problem.

In order here are the top problems with LSU (The first 3 make up 90% of LSU's problem this year):

1. Miles did not fix the OC position during the off-season. LSU runs a very vanilla, high school offense with zero imagination. Teams simply stack the box and double up on the two WR option's that LSU has per pass play they run.

2. Miles meddles too much in the offense and has a Big 10, 1970's mentality and since 2008 has played not to lose rather than play to win like he did from 2005-2007.

3. The loss of Chris Faulk and Alfred Blue to season ending injuries are huge. Faulk was LSU's best and most important Offensive lineman. Blue was LSU's fastest, quickest, and best home run threat in the back-field.

4. WR poor routes, too many dropped passes, and no big, tall go-to WR.

5. Mett has not really hurt this team as much as some might think. While he doesn't recognize blitzes as well as he should, holds on to the ball a bit too long, he is not really hurting this team like some might think.

Injuries, team chemistry, loss of starters, conditioning of back-ups, limited play calling, dropped balls, and in general Bad Luck! shite happens.

LSU fans complain about Miles every year. They did last year, until he beat Bama in November. They didn't complain about him again until after the BCSNCG.

That's funny, because we played the shittiest after the Bama game.

This aspect is the root of the problem. It's why LSU couldn't just load up and run like they did last year, even more so against a talent front like Florida's.

It also means conservative Les has to go more conservative. Keep even more blockers in and leave only two targets on most passing plays. Compounding that is the lack of a deep threat at WR. Defenses can play very compact against LSU.

I'd like to see more quick passes attacking the middle of the field and more play action going on. This business of just pounding away up the middle is not going to work.

One's gotta wonder how Mike Leach did so well at Texas Tech with table scraps athletes. Sucks he's NOT doing so well as WaState.

I've always wondered how he'd do at LSU with all the talented receivers. Running backs would not play as much....but COULD WE WIN? That's the main thing.

1. Poor offensive play calling - Yes
2. Injuries - Somewhat, but coming in we were suppose to have exceptional depth
3. No continuity on offense - Yes
4. Poor quarterback play - No
5. Les Miles - Yes and No, Coach Miles has seem to have lost his focus and desire
6. Team not focused - Yes, think it is because of a lack of upperclassmen
7. Losing HB7 (dynamic game changer) - Larger than I had anticipated
8. Other coaching changes (QB, OL line, Coordinator, etc?) - No
9. Other - I am going to get slammed, but I think the game on Jan 9th has affected this team and program.

Remember in August I predicted a 8-4 record. I still hope I am wrong

See I'm getting answeres like "Offensive line blows, and trouble up front" but with the talent we all know LSU has doesn't that point back to coaching and preparation at some point?

of course, when you're playing first year players on the OL and have lost your best blocker and have had to shift every player on the line, it actually takes time to work. our OL is not up to beating the really good DL's right now. we will improve but have to take some knocks before doingso. it's gonna be a long year.

Injuries at o line and the lack of a running game makes every game look like 1/9. When your 265 pound fullback gets more touches than your 5 star recruit slot receiver. I'd say play calling is a serious issue.
