Is it >50% or better? Houston certainly can't win in a bidding war against LSU, can it?

You're forgetting Texas. If they implode this year (which I think they just might), the Longhorns will be in a bidding war with LSU. Who do you think Herman chooses in that situation?

Notre Dame will probably be looking for a new head coach as well.

There are none, literally none.

It sounds super cute and fun to say, but there is no chance.

Hell Missouri is in a better place as a program (as shown saturday) in a more cultured state and they couldn't lure herman away. No chance lsu could.

0%. They do, however, have an 100% chance to land Houston Nutt.

I think if USCw or Texas come open then LSU won't land him. Otherwise it depends if UH lands in the Big 12.

Texas is his dream job and it will be open according to several people in Austin.

I think there is a decent chance. UH definitely can get into a bidding war because of Fertita, their billionaire booster who wants to bring back their athletic program. He recently gave $20m for a basketball facility.

If they make the playoffs and/or get into the Big12 then it makes it harder.

Pretty sure LSU still is the poors.

Worst case scenario for the long term for Auburn might be playing out here. Lsu gets Tom Herman and Auburn keeps Gus.

Probably not but Fertita is a major player in UH athletics and just donated $20M to UH for a new basketball facility. He could make this pretty expensive.

The buyout of Herman is around $2.5M He would know that he can get $4.5 to $5M on the open market. So... not sure if LSU is truly going to be in a bidding war with UH. Likely there are some other major programs that are going to need coaches.

Herman isn't going anywhere until after bowl season anyway so that is going to make for almost 4 months of nonstop speculation and threads on this board... yuk.

Zero. UH has everything LSU has to offer, without dealing with the SEC West. I don't think he is going to any school.

Tom Herman could win a natty. Do you think he wants to win it all and then go coach Brandon Harris? Assuming Harris doesn't go pro early to Arena League?

Reluctantly I admit believing that among texas, Notre Dame, and USCw, LSU is equally attractive. Top 5 Athletic Department 30+ years running. And I rather doubt that he'll stay at houston too long.

If the guy wants to go Hollywood he'll go to USCw. If he's a Notre Dame dreamer from bitd he'll go there. LSU and tu are toss-ups, with the only measurable distinction being Austin vs. Baton Rouge. (It's more humid in Baton Rouge).

texas MAY have an advantage, if one allows himself to go all Dallas-Dukes of Hazard shady southern politics paranoia and all... If I was texas and I wanted Tom Herman it would be within my power to get Houston into the Big 12, getting Mr. Herman his $5 Million bonus, and then hire him away from there. All 3 parties would be happy.

Just pointing out that Houston has a bigger endowment than LSU.. And has a couple BIG money alumni.. There isn't going to be a "bidding war" because no one is going to go over $7M, Houston could pay that if they want. But Texas, USC, ND all could be open this year and all are better than LSU
