Prayers offered up to all affected South Carolinians and to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives.

Here's hoping the upcoming game will be played at Williams-Brice. I know Gamecock fans would want that. And since it is only Monday, and the stadium is NOT on campus (where from media reports students have been asked to evacuate), it would appear it will be played there.
I don't think there was any malice intended by the OP. But I am puzzled as to the reverse malice back at some posters. "Why are only LSU fans talking about this..."
Well, maybe it's because we are your opponent next Saturday?????

My condolences again and here's to complete recovery for your region, residents, homes and businesses, and families...

Airport is fine and they just reopened the interstates. None of the roads around the stadium are affected so they could get in just fine

There are other considerations such as emergency response resources. Perhaps the resources will still be required in other areas by the time the game rolls around.

Me.

Y'all are treating this like a hurricane. It's not. The catastrophic flooding is localized in areas not near the stadium.

The game will be played at noon in Williams-Brice. The question is whether the stadium will be empty or not

If it is moved, I would guess Charlotte or Atlanta.

Taxpaying citizens that are forced to relocate within U.S. boundaries due to a natural disaster or otherwise are still citizens. Interstate or intrastate relocation is not like going from Syria to Germany.

Will attendance likely be down for no other reason that it is more difficult for people to get around? Sure.

But this was posted on twitter this morning. The stadium and the surrounding area are fine.

That's essentially been my position. You can always play a game. Hosting 75,000 fans is another thing all together.

I'm not. I'm being concise and specific and telling you that this is not about water or damage so much as it is about Public safety and public health and basic services. And for the record, we know all about games being moved to other venues, cancelled completely or rescheduled. We have experienced all three in the last decade and there is probably not a South Louisianian alive that doesn't know this drill.

I think it would be pretty funny to play a game with no crowd. If I was Brandon Harris I'd go out there and try to quiet down the crowd and act like I couldn't hear anything. And I guess that's why I'm not an SEC quarterback

You do understand that the USCe administration would most likely rather move the game than play it in an empty stadium, correct?

Losing money just to play the game at home isn't what they will want to do.

Y'all's experience is from hurricanes though. Which is why most of y'all are overreacting and thinking the game will be moved.

Pimp has nailed it pretty well...I will paraphrase Erwin Rommel...professionals study logistics...

this is just as much a matter of logistics as it is areas not being flooded...

It seems that the SC fans posting here from Columbia believe all will be fine. So, assuming they're right, I wouldn't worry about travel plans if you've already made them. If you've made a hotel reservation, then go use it. Don't worry about the evacuated residents or emergency management workers who may need your room. They won't need your room. How do I know? The 'Cocks fans on this site.

Oy vey.

New Orleans is 75 miles from LSU. Baton Rouge is a city far from the ocean. But an event that happens over there can put pressure on infrastructure and services over here. See how that works?

For instance, you may have a big house on a hill that stays dry and warm. But you may still not have water because, you see-and pay attention-there are a series of pipes and drains that connects people in an area to each other with such things as potable treated water and proper sewage. And what happened over there may effect you over here.

In addition, there are these guys we call Emergency service workers, be they police or medical who may not be able to come to your dry house on the big hill, because they have been diverted over there to help with that.

And here's a really crazy thought-sometimes when there is a natural disaster, an area needs a period of time to clear things out assess the damage and potential risks, and get everything back to code. During this time, they often discourage (I know-it's crazy) people from entering an area that has been damaged or stressed.

Lastly, there are these guys called administrators, bureaucrats and attorneys, who all chime in at times like these and arrive at decisions based on an entirely different set of criteria. Here's the shocking part-they often make decisions based on factors that might be unfamiliar to you, and this can cause confusion and anger from people who are unfamiliar with their decision logic.

That said, lets hope the water and sewer is back to normal, conditions are good,we get the greenlight to fly over, and a ballgame is played as scheduled.
