If Clowney has cancelled the remaining individual workouts, then that is a factual statement that he has cancelled his remaining workouts. Facts prove themselves and are interpreted. Opinions need context to determine motivation. Maybe it isn't laziness, but he is just scared to get hurt. Understandable to a degree, but with Clowney this caution only reinforces a fear that has been known for going on 2 years now. Is he going to sit out practice, or worse, sub out of games for fear of injury?

Maybe he has already had workouts and met with the top 2 teams and he has been told he will be picked? Why keep doing them?

I'd cancel my workouts too if the team that was drafting me told me it wasn't necessary. Just saying. High chance the Texans are picking him #1 and told him to lock himself in a room until draft day

I can't imagine that the Texans are gonna draft another immature, lazy Defensive Lineman after last year. I realize that Sam Montgomery is no where on Clowney's level talent wise. But, they took a chance with Sam last year and then ended up just cutting ties with him. I can't imagine them taking another chance on another immature guy with questionable work ethic.

Why keep doing workouts? Couple of reasons:

1. To show you are not a pussy

2. It's possible some other team would want to trade up to select you. So wow them into wanting to draft you #1.

And yes, sometimes hilarious paragraphs are the only way to deal with dumbass posts on the rant. When in Rome...

How's that possible since you've been balls deep on him since he got there?

I haven't started a Clowney thread since the Arkansas football game last year. Can you say the same?

What I find funny is that a lot of people around the country were wondering if he should even play this year. All off season last year we heard people on ESPN and here say "Clowney should just sit the year out to avoid injury".

He plays all year through injuries and every OC planning for him every down and getting double teams but he doesn't rack up the sacks so everyone is calling him lazy.

Idk, I guess we will see. If I were a Texan fan I'd rather draft him and have him fail then skip him and he turn out to be a HOF DE for the next decade+

The SEC East has been producing extremely underwhelming talent for a while now.

Better than the Big12.

Meh Alshon Jeffery was projected as a top 3 pick before the 2011 season we've already heard this story before.

Then after not racking up the yds he did in 2010 during 2011 season all the bashing started talking about how he was fat lazy couldn't get by a db mostly the same things people are saying about clowney now. I wouldn't be surprised if clowney falls past 5 and makes everybody eat crow at the next level.

right now you can't find a single person that was bashing jeffery before the draft now.

As far as the Sec east producing underwhelming talent that's complete bs.

The sec east has produced

Jeffery
Ingram
Harvin
Gilmore
Stafford
and AJ Green to name a few. The only thing that's come out of the east and busted out was Tebow which everybody knew was going to happen.

The two best things to come out of the west by far in recent yrs have been Manning and Willis

It was hilarious b/c it made zero sense. The "dumbass posts" are coming from you.

People I've talked to around the league believe Clowney is not working out because he's been told he'll be the No. 1 pick.

Anybody who believes this guy is gullible. Teams pull these tactics every year.

Ok, here is something you can understand more clearly. It's better for you if you just ignore the anonymous quotes from NFL personnel that say he is lazy.

If you choose to assume Matt Miller is 100% correct, then go for it. Just don't expect everyone else to buy that story.

Some believe he will go #1 and that is the reason he won't workout, some believe he is lazy and/or scared. Some are just putting quotes out there for their own personal gain.

That is why I focused on the only thing we do know for sure - Clowney declined additional workouts.

I am looking forward in seeing how this plays out. I wouldn't draft him. He is an athletic freak, but besides a rare occasion, it doesn't translate to on-field performance. Of course I am the guy who would have drafted Ryan Leaf because Peyton Manning struggled to win the big game.

So...you watched the 30 seconds of ESPN highlights where they showed him with his hands on his hips.

And Peyton Manning has continued struggling to win big games in the pros.

Players rarely, rarely change their spots. Whether it's Manning, Randy Moss, Aldon Smith or whoever. When you go back and read their scouting reports coming out of college, there's usually huge chunks of it that read like you wrote it yesterday.

He had like 3 sacks last season? He was a rush DE. That's pretty weak. He averaged just over 3 tackles a game last season? Again, that's not impressive for a "franchise DE". Sorry, I don't need ESPN to tell me what to think.
