Baylor's former Title IX coordinator has settled with Baylor on the retaliation complaint she filed, but refused an additional amount of money for a confidentiality agreement. Bottom line, she says she's planning to speak publicly about her frustration with Baylor. They took away her authority to handle Title IX complaints and accused her of "doing her job too well."

Here We Go

Sounds like she plans to spill everything she knows.

Here's the interview from this morning, probably the first of many interviews.
Interview

ESPN article regarding Patty Crawford.

Sounds like she will focus on the administration and board of regents. People wanting her to name Briles will probably be disappointed.

Are you familiar with this case?

And it's SEC relevant because of all the interest in Briles. Plus, it's generally relevant to college football and issues faced by every university.

So somebody give me a simple breakdown.

This is the SECRant, if you are going to introduce Big 12 news, it should be assumed you'll need to explain a little background.

It looks like she settled her complaint for retaliation (that they retaliated against her for her proper handling of Title IX issues) for $1.5mil. They asked her to sign a confidentiality agreement, and she said no. She's going on TV tomorrow morning. They're screwed.

Art Briles coached a bunch of players who committed repeated sexual assaults against multiple girls at Baylor. The university, local LEO, campus security, AD and football program did their best to sweep it under the rug, including intimidating the victims and threatening expulsion for violating Baylor's code of conduct, to keep them from pursuing their cases. Briles and Ken Starr, their President, both were fired by the Board of Regents over their handling of these issues. The NCAA is investigating and expected to be harsh - Title IX issues, and some of the victims were female athletes. Now, the for Title IX coordinator, who was stripped of authority for "doing her job too well" has quit, settled her complaint for $1.5mil, but refused to sign a confidentiality agreement - she plans to talk on CBS tomorrow morning. Oh, and Baylor is going to pay millions to these victims. Millions.

Briles is a potential target as coach for several SEC schools. IMO, he's responsible for enabling rapists in his program, and shouldn't be coaching at any school.
