Petrino's a whiny little bitch, sure, but there are so many coaches with far worse problems to have. I don't understand all the hate, really.

He's a good man, I agree. He hired Rich Brooks after chasing Bill Parcells for weeks, then hired Billy Gillespie. It took the Board to hire Cal.
I'm not impressed with his hires. His only good one was Matthew Mitchell. He's a business AD who brings in a lot of money. As a coach hirer, he gets a failing grade.

What's wrong with Brooks? And your stupid not to give him credit for all the other coaches he has hired (look at softball, gymnastics, baseball, tennis, etc).

The Brooks hire ended up being OK. But no one thought it was a good hire at the time. He wasted a lot of time chasing Parcells who was never going to come to UK.

Like most people I don't worry about the non revenue/TV sports. I think it's nice that we are competitive in those other areas and I watch when they are on, but the revenue sports are football and basketball, and his hires pale in comparison to even Jurich's.

I love Petrino. I wanted him in 2008 and again in 2012. If the job comes open again, we could do much worse than Petrino.
He had Louisville rolling with consecutive seasons of 11 and 12 wins. Then he took the Falcons job thinking he had Vick and Vick went to prison. Don't like how he left the Falcons, but I don't blame him for leaving.
Then he gets Arkansas rolling with consecutive seasons of 10 and 11 wins in a tough SEC west. Then he had his bike wreck with the mistress...
If Petrino will stay put somewhere for 5 years that has a good recruiting base, he could challenge Saban, Meyer, or anyone.
