CBS Article on 3rd NOA

What are your thoughts? It appears that the NCAA has no problem dragging this on forrever with UNC.

It feels like they've been in Oxford forever. I don't look for them to be done anytime soon which is obviously taking a toll on our program. I'm honestly just ready for the conclusion no matter what the result.

I'm beginning to think that this lingering investigation technique is a sort of shadow punishment or off books punishment by an NCAA that is relatively powerless otherwise.

247Sports is reporting that This 3rd NOA will reinstate aspects that were listed in original NOA, but dropped in the 2nd NOA.

I believe those aspects are specifically naming Football and Men's BBall as beneficiaries of the fraudulent classes.

The NCAA did this b/c UNC issued their response the the 2nd NOA and stated that they do not recognize the NCAA's authority to govern/oversee academic issues at their institution.

I could see that. With them investigating for so long, part of me thinks that if they haven't found what they are looking for by now, they won't. I'm not naive to say we are completely clean, because let's be honest, what program is clean? We just happened to get caught. Like I said, I just want the saga to end. But also like you said, with them dragging it out, it acts as a certain type of "punishment."

No doubt. I think the current rank of the Ole Miss class is a good indicator of the impact of this lingering has had on their program. A 40ish class can have a negative impact for a long time in SEC ball, even if nothing else happens.

I think either the NCAA is dragging to punish this way knowing the actual won't be that bad, or they have stumbled onto something much larger than in the first NOA.

Am I missing something here? Subject title says Ole Miss received their 3rd NOA, but article was about UNC, no mention of Ole Miss.

I agree is could be either one of these scenarios. The NCAA in Oxford has been the family member who has overstayed their welcome. I would think there would come a point to where Ole Miss has had enough and tells the family member to get out.

UNC should be given the death penalty or something close to it but it wont happen. They have too much influence in high places. Swofford will protect them to the end. That's why this has gone on for so long. The Carolina mafia controls the ACC and will protect their own no matter how bad the scandal.

Remember the toothless NCAA? "UNC got away with___!" I explained it then. The NCAA had more evidence towards the end of that process and stopped the punishment phase.

Towards the end of the Ole Miss investigation, new things came to light. Some found to be true. Then Tunsil's comments and now another rouge booster.

There is no toothless NCAA anymore.
