to me, people would be likely to vote less-homer if the process was an open ballot. but it's your show, you can run it however you want...

You mean people would be more likely to vote how the rant wants them to vote rather than how they actually feel? Do you even peer pressure bro?

if people are making really homerific picks and/or not watching the actual games, then they need to be called out... keeping the members in the dark protects the idiots.

homers (not unlike what i've done in this thread) are going to b*tch regardless.

It is on the record. All board admins, site admins, and voters can see all votes cast. Some of you just want names so you can more easily dismiss results you don't like.

What a load of shite. Could you be anymore defensive? Jesus Christ. It isnt about wanting to "be a voter" (lulz) or trying to "dismiss" anything. What a terrible straw man.

If this is by and for the community here why cant the votes be public? Seems silly. Almost as silly as building some ridiculous straw man to attack someone who mildly criticizes the process.

kilo, I know how you feel, and understand where you're coming from. But not all the posters here are as logical and honest as you, and some wouldn't be comfortable expressing these opinions publicly. That wasn't meant for you anyway, I know you would vote without being a homer - you're a Mizzou fan, we don't wear black & gold glasses that often.

The hope was that by being anonymous, voters wouldn't be intimidated or pressured to vote a certain way - even from their own fanbase. This isn't mean to be a homer thing, they're looking for honest opinions based on watching the games. I fail to see how anyone could put Missouri or Auburn 6th in the SEC, but then I didn't see all the games, and I'm not a voter.

Oh, semo, I thought that was fired in my direction. My bad. Disregard.

it was directed at me I guess.... yes, my questioning of a couple voters means I want to be on the panel... that makes no sense. I'm not going to magically change their votes based on me getting a vote.

Nope! You would be one of the least likely people I know to either be a homer, or succumb to intimidation!

I've got nothing to deflect or defend. It was set up to be intentionally anonymous. If you don't like it, or don't agree, no problem. I just assume you won't be clicking on the thread to read the future rankings. Take care.

Stop being such a wimp. Grow a pair.

You make poll, people argue and discuss every aspect of poll. You make poll next week, rinse, repeat. You think the SECr poll will somehow escape what every college poll ever has not?

You are a board admin?

Basically 1 (UA), 2(AU) the same and 6-10 the same. 3-5 interchangeable.

Actually how can you determine if they are a "homer" when you may not even know what teams fans voted those teams that low.

This list is nonsense from 1-6.

Bama
LSU
TAMU
Aubie
Mizz
Scar

is the correct answer.

I mean, seriously, does anybody ACTUALLY believe Mizzou would beat TAMU or LSU?

What is Mizzou's most impressive win? UGA was devastated by injuries, UF was without their starting QB, and when they played USCe, they were without their starting QB until the 4th quarter and Mizzou still lost.

Meanwhile, AU beats Ole Miss and A&M on the road, yet you still favor Mizzou?

That was the only AU game I have seen this year

Oh, well at least you're a qualified, objective observer.

homer... bias... stupid... use whatever term you'd like. No objective person is voting AU and Mizzou 6th in the SEC at this point in the season.

I'm not saying both can't end up there, but I don't think power rankings are an end of season projection... they're a reflection of what has occured to date.

well, Mizzou will get their shot against A&M, so that'll work itself out.

And people seem to be overvaluing LSU b/c of what they've accomplished over the last several years, and not necessarily looking at the product they've rolled out THIS year. Their defense is not up to their standards... Mett is still inconsistent... and they have a tendancy to play down to competition. From a talent standpoint, sure... they're #2... but that hasn't shown itself so far.

this is all interesting convesaiton... and will all work itself out in the coming weeks.

Athlon:
1. Alabama
2. LSU
3. Auburn
4. Texas A&M

6. Missouri
7. Georgia
8. Ole Miss
9. Florida
10. Vanderbilt
11. Tennessee
12. Mississippi State

14. Arkansas

ETA: I don't agree with their rankings, but it's a national publication that ranked Mizzou 6th
