I think I will take GA Southern, but I am staying the frick away from UGA this year until they prove me wrong.
They lost me a lot of money last year.

This seems like a sucker bet. Ga So +35 feels way too easy. I'd either take AU or stay away.

Should be higher. Taysom Hill graduated.

North Carolina State - 5

Should be higher, but not by much.

Florida State
Alabama - 7

Alabama was favored by 6 over USC last year and we all know what happened there.

Texas AM
UCLA - 3.5

Stay the hell away from this one. Far too many unknowns.

Michigan - 4

Florida should win comfortably.

in order of probability...

quote:

Vanderbilt - 5.5
Middle Tennessee St.
Middle wins this straight up

quote:

Georgia Southern
Auburn - 35
GSU will eat the clock and cover

quote:

Appalachian State
Georgia - 14.5

close at half - UGa pulls away 4Q, wins by 17+

I wouldn't touch any of the remaining games.

Exactly! On both. UCLA, as said in an earlier post, is not terrible. Not with Rosen.

I would lay serious money on South Alabama to beat that spread. They may win the game outright...And if they do, Ole Miss will be toast right out the gate this year.

Honestly, I have to agree. I think we beat them by 3 or 4 td's but we're gonna have trouble adjusting to their option game and with them controlling the clock, it'll keep the score lower. I would be surprised to see the game total at 35 pts or less

I would be surprised to see any college game total at 35 or less. Boston College and Vandy would have a higher total.

South Alabama

That's a lot of points, but Ole Miss may cover now that Freeze is out. Not that Luke is better or anything, but with the pressure off about Freeze and the postseason ban they already self-imposed, their team may be in us-against-the-world mode and come out playing like they're on fire. Emboldened by their win at Mississippi State last year, and with all the shite going on at Ole Miss, is it possible that South Alabama might actually be overconfident? Call me crazy, but I think the Blondie Bears ("Call Me!") cover.
quote:

BYU
LSU - 13.5

Too many points for a safe bet. BYU will have already played a game, LSU will be in its first game with a new OC and a lot of new faces on both sides of the ball. LSU should win this game because our talent is much better than theirs, but it will very likely be a struggle for us. I wouldn't touch this, but if I had to, I'd take the points.
quote:

Georgia Southern
Auburn - 35

Auburn usually falls on their faces when a lot is expected of them. This year might be different, but GS runs an option offense that can be tricky and 35 is a hell of a lot of points. I would take Georgia Southern and 35, expecting Auburn to win 50s to mid-high 20s.
quote:

Appalachian State
Georgia - 14.5

This line seems low. App State is fairly good for a mid-major, but Georgia's talent is miles above theirs, and they are hoping for big things this year after last year's disappointing season. I think Georgia rolls here.
quote:

Kentucky - 10
Southern Miss

I'm on board with Kentucky this year. I think they are going to be good. USM is a decent opponent, but I like the Cats.
quote:

South Carolina
North Carolina State - 5

I have to confess I know very little about NC State. I don't think Muschamp is as bad as his performance at Florida made him seem. It'll be an ugly team, as his always are, but I like them to win this one and love the points.
quote:

Michigan - 4
Florida

Honestly, this line seems low. I do recall seeing that Michigan lost a lot of players from last year, but their coach is really good and they are going to be hell on wheels for as long as he is there. Florida has gotten by the past couple of years with some luck and, admittedly, some good coaching, but Michigan should run away with this one.
quote:

Vanderbilt - 5.5
Middle Tennessee St.

MTSU will no doubt be motivated, playing an in-state SEC team, and Vanderbilt is always going to be Vanderbilt. They usually struggle in games like this but then later upset someone like Georgia, so I wouldn't want to bet this one. Gun to my head I would take MTSU.
quote:

Florida State
Alabama - 7

People just don't understand how wide the talent gap is between Alabama and everybody else. In a season opener, with unlimited time to prepare and everybody motivated, no way does anybody stay within a touchdown of them. Spot the points, and I would spot twice as many if I had to, to be honest.
quote:

Texas AM
UCLA - 3.5

My only impression of UCLA is that they were pretty bad last year. Sumlin's job is on the line this year, and they usually start out pretty well, so I guess I would take Aggy here, but I sure wouldn't be chasing down the bookie to bet on it.
quote:

Tennessee - 3.5
Georgia Tech

Tennessee felt like last year was their year to finally break through and win the SEC East, especially after they beat Florida, but it didn't happen. Now, after losing a lot of players, their expectations are more tempered, but I think they'll surprise people and be better than expected. I like the Vols here.
quote:

Head Scratcher:

California
North Carolina - 13

Has UNC fallen that far? is Cal that good?

I don't see it either. Cal's defense was absolutely horrible last year and UNC can put up some points, plus it's at UNC. I can't figure out why this line isn't higher, but that probably means someone knows something I don't. But, not knowing whatever it is, I would pick the Tar Heels.

Tanner Mangum has played a lot the last few years. They won't miss Hill even as good as he was pre injuries.

2017 FSU >>>>>>> 2016 USC, especially the version with Max Browne at QB. Darnold did not start that game.

Not sure why the average SEC fan loves to shite on Harbaugh so much but this won't be easy for Florida by any means. It's a loaded Michigan team (great recruiting by Hoke and Harbaugh) with a returning QB and a great coach. I expect Michigan to win by about 10 or so.

Can't believe Bama is -7 to Florida State a team that returns everyone nearly in both sides of the ball. If Bama wins it will be by less than 7 unless their QB gets in trouble or something.

They're losing 10 defensive starters and something like 12 or 13 total off their defensive 2-deep. Including walk-ons, they only have 15 upperclassmen on their defensive roster period.

On offense, they may be starting 2 true freshmen at WR and their QB played like absolute arse in the spring game (2 picks, 3 sacks in limited snaps) against aforementioned losses on D. OL has some players but is getting reshuffled.

New Kicker, new Punter on special teams.

I think Appalachian State and Georgia State would be a good, close game. I understand that GSU has some personnel changes but it's odd that AU is favored by 20 more points than UGA against a similar (ability, not offensive scheme) team.
