Texas #11?

I guess we are talking about a media based poll though right. They love them some Texas brand

Seriously, I feel like this board could put out a more legitimate poll.

Washington at 8?!, Texas at 11?

Ole Miss at 19 behind ND is what gets me. How is going on the road and losing to an un-ranked team "better" than going on the road and losing to the #3 team?

The poll that matters doesn't come out for a couple more months.

Like with the Coach's poll, it's ridiculous how far Tennessee dropped while struggling with a good G5 team while Michigan State and TCU basically stayed the same (only TCU dropped 2 spots) for struggling with mediocre FCS teams. I would expect voters to be able to put games in the same context, because it seems like Tenn being on Thursday hurt them while voters didn't see much of Michigan State or TCU playing and barely moved them. This proves to me how worthless the AP poll really is.

This. Tennessee moved down as many spots as Notre Dame did and they lost to an unranked team.

Texas @ 11? A bit excessive, don't you think?

They barely escaped losing to a Notre Dame team at home that only had 8 returning starters

Yeah I'd say it's excessive but the media has its darlings

Except when the only reason Wisconsin and Texas are ranked this high because of the teams they played based off of their offseason perception

I'm sorry, that Wisconsin team isn't a top 10 team.

that's my thing. if they're going to laughably rank them #10, then a 2 point loss on the road to a top 10 team shouldn't come with it a 16 spot drop in the poll. what should have happened is Wisconsin enter the tail end of the top 25 and LSU be ranked somewhere below them. If the loss is truly supposed to be embarrassing, then reflect that in the poll

notre dame was ranked ahead of ole miss before the season. ole miss blew a 22 point lead. notre dame lost in overtime. at the end of the day, though, these polls are worthless

... and because of (a) when they played (they received all eyes) and (b) the fact that the game was so close. The media loves it some double OT drama.

That said, I'm sunned at were the horns debuted in the polls.
After all of these years, I shouldn't be ... but even for the ladies in Austin, that's some serious head-scratchin' lunacy.

In the end, it all usually comes out in the wash.

Texas at 11 is just to add dramatic effect once they lose and fall off the map after everyone realizes Notre dame is Notre Dame

It's weeks like this that I am glad I don't live in Texas anymore. Actual alums will admit the ranking is prematurely high. T-shirt fans not so much, and those are the ones that are the hardest to deal with.

I have no particular hate for T-shirt fans in general. It's when they talk crap about other schools and use "We" as part of their language. I remember one Monday after Texas had beaten A&M on T-day, and 5-6 guys in the office were standing around giving me crap about it. I reminded them that I was the only one in the group who actually attended and graduated from UT (MBA). Much harrumphing.

Once they go 0-3 against Cal, OSU, and OU, though, I will miss the place.

They are much better, though, from what we have seen.
