EKG...I just wanted to update you on my cousin that I told you about. He has raised just over $15,000.00 since I told you about what he was doing as well as a little over a ton of donated goods. He posted videos on facebook putting the call out to his military brothers and sisters and he had ppl that had never met him before from as far away as New York (he lives in Abilene) donating money and ordering goods on the Wal Mart site and designating it for pick up at his closest Wal Mart. He is giving the majority of it to the Texas areas affected by the flood but he has also decided to give some of it to the areas of Louisiana affected by Harvey. He has been down there with his boat assisting in rescues in between travelling back and forth to Abilene to pick up goods from two designated drop off sites he arranged in that area as well as goods ppl have dropped off at his house. He did take some folks back with him that had no place to stay and they are staying at his home with his wife and kids assisting them. It is 2 families with young children that are staying there bc their homes and vehicles were destroyed and they have no place to go. Like I mentioned to you before, he was injured in Afghanistan while serving with the Rangers. First injury was from being shot but he recovered and returned for a 2nd time and he stepped on an IED that time and lost his right leg and now has a prosthetic leg and was honorably discharged bc of his injuries. He deals with major PTSD but somehow he makes it all work. I am proud to call him my cousin. He also deals with the fact that his dad (my dad's brother) committed suicide a few years ago...he suffered from PTSD from his tour in Vietnam and hanged himself over my son's grave. It's been an experience is all I can say. Today is the anniversary of my son's death...he was 7 months old when he passed away of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Anyway..I didn't mean to wander off into my whole sob story. Sorry about that. I just wanted to update you like I promised to in my original post about Mike and what he was doing to help out.

I hope y'all are safe and dry and my offer to send you whatever you need still stands! Stay safe!

being a realist, would the university send any financial support?

Don't know about MSU, but I sent a contribution to Samaritans Purse to support their relief efforts in Texas.
