We need a thread for most felony charges.

I know some civic minded poster has already created a thread tallying the number of arrests/citations/charges for each SEC football team over some recent arbitrary time period. But that may not tell the whole story. Some programs seem to have fewer members of their football team charged with misdemeanor offenses, but register quite a few more serious charges. You might say that when their players commit an offense, they go all in.

Maybe it's just bad luck, or a cynical person might suggest that less serious offenses are treated with discretion in some venues, whereas felonies are less amenable to such handling. Whatever the case, it would be enlightening to know the total number of felony charges accumulated by members of SEC football teams, over say a 5 year period. Five years would seem to be a good minimum because felonies are not quite as frequent as misdemeanors, at least for most programs, so it gives a better sample size of how common these things really are.

I believe Georgia players have at least one felony charge over the last 5 years among scholarship players and walk-ons, Jonathan Taylor, although I may have forgotten others. Do any other programs have any felony arrests or charges during that time period? Anyone civic minded enough to give us some hard numbers?

The Crow also had felony weapons charges, but they were dropped.

So was the other thread some form of "butthurt" too? I prefer to think of this as adding some clarity to a subject near and dear to the hearts of some on the rant. Or, you could call it a response thread if you prefer.

"Charges"?

A charge don't stick, unless you convict.

He stopped me right there and said, "Kid, have you ever been to court?" And I proceeded to tell him the story of the twenty-seven 8 x 10 colored glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one...

He stopped me right there and said, "Kid, I want you to go over and sit down On that bench that says 'Group W'."

And I walked over to the bench there, and there's Group W is where they Put you if you may not be moral enough to join the army after committin' Your special crime.

There was all kinds of mean, nasty, ugly-lookin' people on the bench there... there was mother-rapers... father-stabbers... father-rapers! FATHER-RAPERS sittin' right there on the bench next to me! And they was mean and nasty and ugly and horrible and crime fightin' guys were sittin' there on the bench, and the meanest, ugliest, nastiest one, the meanest Father-raper of them all was comin' over to me, and he was mean and ugly and nasty and horrible and all kinds of things, and he sat down next to Me. He said, "Kid, what'd you get?"

I said, "I didn't get nothin'. I had to pay fifty dollars and pick up the Garbage."

He said, "What were you arrested for, kid?" and I said, "Litterin'"' . . . . And they all moved away from me on the bench there, with the hairy eyeball And all kinds of mean, nasty things, till I said, "And creatin' a nuisance . . . " And they all came back, shook my hand, and we had a great time on the Bench talkin' about crime, mother-stabbin', father-rapin', . . . all kinds Of groovy things that we was talkin' about on the bench, and verything was Fine.

No way the winner of any felony contest is not Alabama or Auburn with the knockout crew and the ring of armed burglers unless the Vandy rape bunch beats them.

You are correct. I just used charges in the spirit of the other thread. But probably best to list both felony charges and convictions. In light of the above post, I believe that puts Georgia at 2 charges and 0 convictions.

Surely some of our more diligent list keepers would like to weigh in? I can't believe that's all.

Yeah, I saw. These attempts to make distinctions are silly, because cfb programs are all in the same boat when it comes to bad behavior. None of us have reason to boast on that subject, and this spring just reiterates that fact.
