My only addition/subtraction would be Mike Matthews the tamu center- dont know much bout the Bama center but Mike has been solid and calling our line for a while- plus he is a friggin Matthews.

First? Did you forget Leigh Tiffin? He continued to get better from 2007 to 2009. He left an All-American and Lou Groza finalist.

I didn't forget him, I was only considering specialists whose first year of college coaching was under Saban. He was pretty good in 2006 and got better. I can admit that. Just didn't fit the criteria.

I mean, except for the 1st team all-SEC tight end is returning. I guess just forget he exists, and everything.

Fair enough.

I'd also argue our punters have been very good under Saban. Just none with the ability to flip the field like Scott. He's actually only the third starting punter we've had since 2005. PJ Fitzgerald and Cody Mandell were both four year starters.

The Bama punter is a huge weapon IMO. That SOB can flip the field like crazy

You would have to pick someone else other than Beckwith to replace. He is straight up the best MLB in the SEC

no, that would be Reggie Ragland

LB- Kendall Beckwith LSU
I would take both Kris Frost and Cass McKinzy over Kendall Beckwith, as they outproduced him in 2014. And those are just two Auburn linebackers... I'm sure there are others that deserve to be on the list over them.

Kendall Beckwith: 77 total tackles (36 solo), 1 interception, 7.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 3 passes broken up, 2 quarterback hurries, 0 forced fumbles

Cass McKinzy: 91 total tackles (60 solo), 1 interception, 11 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, 0 passes broken up, 2 quarterback hurries, 1 forced fumble

Kris Frost: 87 tackles, (59 solo), 1 interception, 10 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 3 passes broken up, 9 quarterback hurries, 3 forced fumbles

Reggie Ragland: 95 tackles (45 solo), 10.5 TFL, 1 INT, 1 FF, 3 FR, 3 PBUs

He and Kris Frost had similar numbers.

I keep trying to tell Auburn fans that Kris Frost is better than they think. We have guys over on the Auburn Sports Board that rag on him every chance given, even when he plays great.

Only 7 starts, though. Also, LSU plays significantly less plays per game than Auburn does. Pace of play has to factor into those tackle numbers. Beckwith played in the middle for the best yardage defense in the league. Those guys played linebacker for the 9th ranked conference defense.

yeah sometimes he shows flashes of being a game changer on D. then other times he disappears. He's better than a lot of the LBs auburn has had the past few years.

Kris Frost can drink a cocktail infused with Harvey Updyke's tree poison and die a slow death......

Why was he only good enough to start 7 games?

I doubt that. I would like to see stats.

I don't see why that matters. Do you also think Byron Maxwell is a better cornerback than Aqib Talib or Chris Harris? Champ Bailey was the best cornerback in the NFL for a good stretch and he played on some bad Denver Broncos defenses, that also had bad secondaries.
