... how did Flutie do in the USFL, CFL and NFL? Was he first round multi-millions worthy?

Wasn't that right about the time LBs and DEs were getting bigger and faster and changing the game, taking away from the rambling scrambling Fran Tarkenton type QBs?

Is Manziel better than, or even equal to, the great white scramblers such as Flutie, Tarkenton, Zorn, Staubach, Elway and Young?

I'm going to need to understand how you differentiate the skill set of white scramblers and scramblers of other races before I can adequately answer your question.

Doug Fluitie was the most exciting QB in world history for all of one play in the Orange Bowl circa 1984.

Yep ... and how could I forget Archie. I remember his Ole Miss days like it was yesterday. Hell, I had /have family in Olive Branch, Byhalia and Hattiesburg ... I knew the Archie song by heart.

Archie got a bum deal having to go to New Orleans, much as George Rogers did having to go to New Orleans. It shortened both of their careers and made John Elway's decision, to have some control over where he would play straight out of college, understandable.

Doug Flutie averaged 3.3 YPC for his career with 969 total rushing yards and 7 TDs over 4 years

Manziel averaged 6.3 YPC with 2169 yards and 30 TD in 2 years

In college yes, in the pros, no. Unlike the others, I don't see him getting any PT.

I'd have to say Flutie did more in the NFL than any Spurrier-coached qb

Even if he does, it matters where he goes. If he winds up at a place like Cleveland he will not stay healthy a year as starter or backup.

I'm pretty sure he is the last person to pull of the drop kick deal after a touchdown, so he has that going for him in the NFL, not kicking PATs in a blowout trying to pad stats for the Heisman.

I completely forgot about that ... about Flutie doing that.

Also forgot to mention the other recent great running QB in my OP ...
