Nice clarification el, fair assessment and question,
IMHO, it wasn't the WORST, but DEFINITELY, the most disappointing, befuddling, mysterious, and biggest letdown loss.

Very fair point.

I guess it depends on what the definition of "worst" is in this context. It's certainly not the "worst" loss in terms of losing to a team you shouldn't or getting blown out the worst or anything like that. Was just thinking of what was on the line because I thought people could be talking about this LSU season as the most "accomplished" of all time in terms of who they beat and losing the last game and getting the NC will make most kind of forget / discount that.

hard to pinpoint one since there are a lot of things revolving around that game and season. Two that stick out in my mind for various reasons are the 1982 Tulane game and the 1993 Arkansas game.

Certainly, that BCS game last week was painful in a variety of ways. But playing in the title game is a lot better than playing in the Sun Bowl. Not going to jump off a cliff for losing the National Title, going 13-1 ,winning the SEC and finishing 2nd in the nation.

That is very hard to believe given what was at stake in this game. You must be thinking of this in terms of simply getting blown out and/or losing to teams you shouldn't, rather than the what was at stake angle. I can understand that because "worst" is subjective in this context.

Don't be so sensitive. This was a big game, talked about non-stop for WEEKS. It's going to continue to get a little airtime.

Yeah, it's tougher and tougher as I get older to pinpoint a single Auburn loss that just crushed me. An odd one for me was our loss to y'all in 2005, it really disappointed me.

It was a bad loss but I felt a lot worse after the 79 USC game than I did after the BCSNC game. Maybe because we went undefeated in confrence and won the SECCG.

I'm fairly certain it's not the question asked, but the manner in which it was asked.

LSU fans know no other SEC team has lost the BCSNG game. We know we "tanked" at the end of the season. These points aren't new; rather, they've been beaten to death. To state them in a "worst loss" thread seems to indicate an attempt to flame.

If you didn't intend to, fine. But that's most likely what fans people will read.

I guess its all relative. In 1993 LSU had had four straight losing seasons. We were 5-5 with 4-5-1 Arkansas coming to town to end the season. An LSU win and we were going to the then Carquest Bowl in Miami (which might as well been the Rose Bowl). LSU led 14-0 then got creamed 42-24. I'll never forget Kevin Mawae just bawling at the end of the game knowing he was never going to play in a bowl.

Definitely worst loss in my time. At least our bad teams put effort into getting blown out. When you know your team could and should win a game and they respond the way we did, you're pretty much slapping your fans in the face. But we live in a fast-moving world, and everyone will have forgotten about it by the time our #1 hype starts for next season.

Doesn't bother me too much. And I can't blame you.

Others may be a tad touchy. Too soon for them.

Yes, because of the magnitude of the game, who it was against, and how we played.

Pretty close.

Was going to post something about having to go 2-0 versus 1-1, about our best loss was to #1 (eyeball test and all). Basically all the Bama/ESPN arguments with an LSU twist. Throw in a few dancing bananas in the post for few good measure.

But it still sucks. Period.
