Take a listen here and figure out for yourself why the SEC does not need OU in the league.
Obnoxious and the early tweets this morning are regarding how the Big12 allowed the least amount of points per game, even though they only played in 6 games.

Meaning, SEC and ACC had to play in 11+ games obviously giving them more of an opportunity to give up more points per game.
Its pretty simple.

Yea, I do.
I also know a league that plays in 12 games versus playing in only 6, has more of an opportunity to give up more points per game.

Melting over the fact that the league played horrible on their bowl games despite the fact that your favorite team won.
Jesus it must suck to be an secsecsec fan.

I think what he is getting at is only the top 6 of the Big XII played, but if the teams ranked 7-10 in the Big XII played in bowl games then those shittier teams would have given up more pts, changing the ppg average.
I wonder how this stat would change if you compared the 6 bowl teams from the Big XII to the top 6 teams from the ACC, SEC etc that played in bowl games.

That is true to a certain extent. It is the best thing you can use when not having an equal game total but it can still be misleading in certain situations.

Thats my point.
For the Big 12 it is all their bowl teams, because the league is so shitty that only 6 teams are bowl eligible.
For the ACC, SEC, Big Ten, everyone is in a bowl game pretty much.
So, therefore more teams played, which means more points are allowed per game especially based on level of competition played.
I mean, shite, Arkansas who was 7-5 played the ACC Runner Up who was a 9 game winner in a bowl game. While, Baylor played Boise State. South Carolina who won 6 games, played a 10 game winner in their bowl game.
Its not measuring apples to apples and especially not when only 6 games is the averaging point.
If selecting 6 games from the SEC, then the average can be much lower.

Boise State ALSO won 10 games and was ranked.

quote:This is actually a good point. The Big 12 gave up 21.0 ppg in its six bowl games. The SEC big six gave up 16.7 ppg in their bowls.

You do understand that playing less games doesn't skew the stats in one direction only, correct?
