You should be. There's no hiding this. They thought something was up when they pulled him out. Why would they let him slip back in the game.

Because he could've passed initial tests but they were cautious with him. Concussions aren't exact science and symptoms don't appear all at once. I had a severe concussion that blinded me for a period of time when I collided head to head with another kid. I went to class in a daze (to be honest I don't even know how I found my way there because I couldn't see but I must've been able to see in some way in order to get there) but performed well enough to where no one noticed and I was a talkative kid in class.

Hours later with a clear head and feeling fine, I went on to basketball practice and that's when all hell broke loose inside my head. It's also when I and other people knew something was wrong and I was taken to the hospital.

We're missing three all conference players on defense and an All-American Punt returner.

VOLS were without 3 of our 4 best defensive players against Florida and Georgia.

This is why they take away players helmets.

Lol @ "snuck out".

If he had a concussion why does he still have pads on? Why didn't they take his helmet?

Both should have been removed as he wasn't going to play anymore and he should have been relaxing getting medical attention.

Shite coaches and medical staff IYAM

But if the medical staff had run protocol, he'd be in the locker room. Somebody fricked up, big time.

I don't remember him going to the locker room at all. Maybe they did it during the half.

If they ran it at the half, and he passed, no big deal. If they ran it at the half, and he was iffy, they should have taken his helmet away.

So can I get a summation of Vol injuries and their most likely status for Saturday's game?

I would imagine they have a similar rules in place as high schools. If there's even a hint of a concussion, blurred vision, head ache, any symptom they have to sit out until cleared by medical staff.

It doesn't work if you don't tell anyone. I didn't because I thought I was fine. Just a hard hit and thought it wear off and it did initially for a while. I probably wasn't exactly in the best place to make decisions about saying anything about it but that's part of the problem with concussions - you're not thinking straight but you don't exactly know that.

That said, if he was displaying clearer symptoms someone fricked up. I don't think the staff would intentionally play him though. A few years ago, when he suffered a concussion against Vandy we were fighting for bowl eligibility. He was immediately benched and we had to use an already injured Marlon Lane at RB. Vandy was actually murdering us with the backup center we had playing. We barely scratched out a win. That may not sound like a big deal but bowl eligibility was a huge thing at the time and benching our only effective offensive player absolutely risked losing the game. Dobbs was a backup QB that year and was only playing due to injuries to other QBs. He won that game utterly alone and only barely.

I have not seen anything to suggest Hurd received a concussion in Saturday's game. He did however have a 'minor lower leg injury' and he sat out of part of practice on Monday, but he was full-go on Tuesday. Butch Jones has not said anything about a concussion, and he said Hurd is 100% and ready to go for Saturday.

Unfortunately, agrunner, we will still not be 100%, as we will be without three of our defensive stars, Cam Sutton (DB), Jalen Reeves-Maybin (OLB), and Darren Kirkland, Jr. (MLB). The backups are serviceable, but no where near the caliber of the aforementioned trio. We were hoping Kirkland would be back for A&M, but I read today that he will most likely not be back until next week.

We're not going to be at 100%, how many fricking times do we have to explain our injury situation to you?

Are you fricking retarded?

Since Saturday I've heard that Hurd got benched for being mouthy, that he got a concussion, that he has a leg and/or groin injury and thousand other theories. Truth is that CBJ doesn't reveal much about injuries at all and that a whole lot of people are just speculating about why he might've sat out for a while.

Hell, Kamara is a team captain from Georgia. For all we know he got those snaps because of that.
