I’m refuting the hes the only reason aspect. The players and system were proven before him. He didn’t just show and the Vols became decent. Barns found a way to use him and his skillset to the betterment of both but the Vols would still be “decent” without him.

Take him off the roster and who comes remotely close to his production?
Use him? That moherfricker had a green fricking light to do whatever the frick he wanted to do on the court - as well he should have.

His production would be spread out, instead of running through him. When he chose Tennessee it was to improve his defensive game and work with Barnes. He wasn’t a world beater as a transfer.

And in early games on into SEC play he tended to play out of control. Hence Barnes was able to temper that a bit and turn him into the player he is today. It took minutes and shots away from the rest of the team. If Kentch isn’t there the difference is a game or 2 at best. 5 years ago Barnes isn’t able to see that style of play as viable.
