Between plugging his book and reminiscing of past family vacations, there is very little basketball intelect. He just reacts to plays obnoxiously when he does talk about basketball

I must be the only sap alive who loves guys like Vitale, Musburger, and (the late) Jackson.
Their idiosyncratic ways are what make them great.

I'm not piling on over recent DV remarks over WW/LSU..
But, seriously, if ESPN can send a still very sharp Musberger, or Ron Franklin(over being dismissive of a female sideline reporter) packing, when both were still on their game..
It's time to send what is now a cliche of his former self too.

The only college basketball announcer that I liked less than Vitale was Billy Packer. That was one insufferable munchkin.

I always liked Raftery and his "onions" over Packer and Vitale.

I'm watching the game,but the sound is muted.
I've never cared for vitale,he's irritating to to listen to,and he has his head up the butt of east coast teams and Bobby Knight.
I don't know why they think a crappy coach would make a good game announcer.

His shtick has been old for years now.
Can't wait til I don't have to listen to him anymore.
Jay Williams is jockeying hard to surpass him for me though.
